Commonskat on huwiki

edit

Hello, thank you for your bot efforts. GeertivpBot adds the commonskat template to articles, however, it is unnecessary if the commons category is already featured in the infobox (and it is, in most of the cases). Also, commonskat should be added directly under the "Sources" or "Further information" heading, above navboxes and portal templates. Would it be possible to fix this? Thank you! I disabled Commonscat functionality for bawiki, huwiki, plwiki, pmswiki. Sorry for the inconveniance. Thanks for informing me. Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) (talk) 22:09, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Bot edits

Please, don't make edits on wikis you're not authorized. Reverted your bots edit here. Balyozxane (talk) 15:44, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Same with Serbian Wikipedia. Most of those are either wrong, redundant, or go against established practices on SR.WIKI. -- Ђидо (talk) 17:17, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also in vepwiki, edits. There's no any administrator, and no way to block bots. -- Motoranger (talk) 16:48, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sunday June 23 Strategic Wikimedia Affiliates Network meeting (WMF BoT statement on Movement Charter ratification)

edit

A group of SWANs heading to the meeting

Hello everyone!

The Strategic Wikimedia Affiliates Network (SWAN) is a developing forum for all Wikimedia movement affiliates to share ideas about current developments in the Wikimedia Movement. It expands on the model of the All-Affiliates Brand Meeting to help lay some of the groundwork for further Wikimedia 2030 strategy process work.

At this meeting we will focus on the recent statement by the WMF Board of Trustees liaisons statement on the Movement Charter in which the liaisons stated that they will be recommending the Board of Trustees not to ratify the final draft of the Movement Charter. The community and affiliate votes on the ratification are supposed to start on Tuesday, 25 June. This meeting offers a venue to discuss the situation and formulate the "next steps".

This month, we are meeting on Sunday, June 23, and you are all invited to RSVP here.

Blocked your bot on plwiki

edit

Hi! I just blocked your bot, GeertivpBot, on Polish Wikipedia. Tasks to be done by the bot weren't consulted anywhere, some of them already done by other bots (like adding authority control – your bot placed the template in a non-standard place, though). Some other tasks, like adding images yielded unnatural results (we don't add images to the very end of the article and their caption should be usually more meaningful that just replicating the article title). The block is infinite but if you're willing to do mass edits on plwiki, please consult them first and get bot rights. Without them, every bot edit would need to be manually reviewed by users which is not really what we want to do (especially at large scale). Regards, Msz2001 (talk) 15:30, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for notifying me. I have changed my script. I place the {{Kontrola autorytatywna}} now before the {{SORTUJ:...}} or the first [[Kategoria:...]]. I place the image now after the first section only if there is an infobox. Otherwise the image comes at the top of the page. --Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) 09:36, 4 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello. The {{kontrola autorytatywna}} task is already handled by my own bot (PBbot), you can check it out at w:pl:WP:ZdB#Zadania stałe. It was introduced following a community discussion and consensus. I'd rather you refrain from using your bot in this context, thank you for your understanding. Cheers, Peter Bowman (talk) 20:58, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have disabled authority updates for plwiki. --Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) 11:48, 6 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

GeertivpBot on skwiki

edit

Hi Geertivp. Thanks for your effort, but edits like [1] are not desirable on skwiki, we don't use {{Commonscat}} template in main NS, we use Iné projekty final section (in a proper order, i.e. after Referencie/Pozri aj and before Externé odkazy) with a {{Projekt}} template; for commons-only link with no params at all, WD sitelink or property is used by default. See sk:Pomoc:Projekt. I think the best solution would be to disable activities on skwiki for now. Teslaton (talk) 15:26, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reporting this prerequisite. In principle, this bot is running for all Wikipedias. It is using Wikidata to build template metadata. I have disabled Commonscat updates for skwiki. --Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) 13:41, 27 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
