Open English licensure, byline, etc.Edit

I've been reading through all the CC-wiki discussions on the commons' mailing lists, and am coming to believe the CC-wiki license with the Code v2 variations is the most useful license. But I don't know if that would be an acceptable license? It appears to me to be a version of CC-by-sa in which the wiki project itself is what gets the attribution.

The byline item sounds like something we should talk about. My initial reaction was negative, but when I step back and think about it there are some good reasons to include it for an open-community orientation. Would we use a byline-type template to include the author(s) at the top of the article, or possibly a contributing-authors template below the article?

I would envision each country/state-province/city as potentially having a "portal" page. There are many ways portals could be built; using a combination of templates, automated lists, and manually-maintained elements seems to work well enough. One thing I'm hoping to develop at some point is a way to create custom RSS feeds based on the DynamicPageList functionality; it would be nice if (as an example) the Fiji page included an RSS link for Fiji-related articles. - Amgine 6 July 2005 18:44 (UTC)
