On fr-wp, I extended the creation protection for one year, as it was about to expire. — Jules* Talk 06:55, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Shady website, link is being spammed by IP users across multiple projects; I have reverted on over 20 different wikis so far. –FlyingAce✈hello 07:37, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ongoing xwiki spam about a non-notable person. On enwiki, a deletion discussion was opened, which resulted in the article being deleted. Was later salted. Perhaps because of that, the article is now being created in other Wikipedias.

Fehufanga, This was re-created on the Urdu Wikipedia. I just deleted it few hours ago. Pinging بندر who deleted the article earlier on Arabic Wikipedia. Sometimes I believe, we should have a group on Telegram to report spam articles and get them deleted on time, or at the least a group of active admins from all the wikis over here. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 19:55, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@AafiOnMobile, apologies for the late reply. I didn't receive a notification for the ping. Thanks for notifying me. I agree that a dedicated channel for xwiki spam would be beneficial. --*Fehufangą✉ Talk page10:15, 9 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Looks like that's all of them, excluding Wikidata and commons. Thanks everyone. --*Fehufangą✉ Talk page08:38, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

That article does not meet Wikipedia's general notability guideline, it is obviously interwiki spam. Anibal Maysonet (talk) 19:50, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

SagoShader

edit

User SagoShader has been adding self-made svg flags to different articles across wikipedias that he's uploaded to commons himself (commons:Special:Contributions/SagoShader), focusing on articles with little traffic. So far I haven't been able to verify the authenticity of any of these flags through my search. At least enwiki, eswiki and commons are concerned. Nacaru · Talk ✉ 11:06, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Can confirm viwiki is concerced as well at vi:Oranjestad,_Sint_Eustatius. Nacaru · Talk ✉ 11:08, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Tagging some of you:
Nacaru · Talk ✉ 11:14, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Update: the user seems to occasionally do genuine contributions, mostly through upgrading existing flag designs (see commons:Flag_of_Jerusalem.svg). I still haven't been able to verify some of their latest designs (namely:[2][3][4], among others). Nacaru · Talk ✉ 11:37, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Update: many of their images have now been deleted and the user has been blocked for a week. Watch out for potentially hoax content the user might have left in the different wikis they posted. Nacaru   · Talk ✉ 00:08, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I think I had to get involved in this. Since June this user kept uploading fake flags, leading to a 3-month block, but afterwards a sock with nearly same name (commons:Special:Contributions/SagoShader2021) uploaded the same flags and got blocked indefinitely. I think we need to watch out for more socks that emerge from this, as well as pages affected by it. MarioJump83 (talk) 14:12, 20 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

After indef block of SagoShader, I realized SagoShader is a part of the same flag faking socking network centered around Han Mi Nyeo, with SagoShader being the oldest account. I have some suspicions regarding their connection(s) to earlier network centered around Bedriczwaleta and PiotrGrochowski, since the oldest account previously edited in the same pages as both. MarioJump83 (talk) 22:05, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Now globally locked. Everything is done. MarioJump83 (talk) 12:18, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Linkspam – pirvnota.com

edit

Same modus operandi for both users – post a long screed in their user talk and bury the link in the text. Have found them on Wikidata and English Wikinews so far; will keep an eye for similar posts on other projects. –FlyingAce✈hello 05:39, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Crosswiki fakes

edit

Hi there, There appear to be some crosswiki fakes. German WP recognised and deleted Joachim von Richthofen, but there are still fr:Joachim von Richthofen and es:Joachim von Richthofen. In addition there is the similarly obvious fr:Wilhelm von Wallenrichten including interwikis. A draft on enwiki didn't make it to article namespace (en:Draft:Juliann Kurtzmann).

Users involved are

@Jules*, MarioGom, and Oleg Yunakov: Cheers, Millbart (talk) 10:54, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Millbart. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have blocked all of them and nominated for deletion their articles. Oleg Yunakov (talk) 12:42, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Millbart and Oleg Yunakov: I concur, the articles in ru-wiki appear to be blatant fakes. Retired electrician (talk) 23:39, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Millbart and Itti:. I deleted fr:Joachim von Richthofen. I also checked fr:Wilhelm von Wallenrichten sources: none contains his name; furthemore, a Google search "Wilhelm von Wallenrichten" returns 0 result outside of Wikimedia websites. So I delete it too, but it remains: ru:Валленрихтен, Вильгельм фон, es:Wilhelm von Wallenrichten and uk:Вільгельм фон Валленріхтен. Best, — Jules* talk 09:21, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thx for your work. Best, Itti (talk) 09:27, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I deleted their articles that were on AfD in ruwiki, and also nominated for AfD what was created by these users in eswiki, ukwiki and commons. Wikisaurus (talk) 16:50, 21 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Resolved. Has been deleted on all wikis. I requested deletion of the remaining Wikidata objects d:Q111908572 and d:Q112612515. --Johannnes89 (talk) 07:17, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
