responsibilities vs. benefits
editAre these paid positions, or strictly voluntary non-profit. Where would I read about the benefits? Thank you. Ched (talk) 08:05, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- They are voluntary positions. Have a read of FDC portal/FDC member roles, expectations, and selection process. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 08:36, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you Mike, I very much appreciate your time. Ched (talk) 15:33, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Small formatting change requested
editPlease change "###)" twice to "###". This leads to issues in translation ("unbalanced parentheses"). Thanks. Siebrand (talk) 09:01, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Real name public?
editAlthough it is clear that identification must be provided privately, will the candidates have to reveal their real names? I am not willing to give up my anonymity. ImperfectlyInformed (talk) 06:21, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- I cannot actually find a guideline on this one way or the other, but the current members do use their real names, and given that you will need to sign a conflict of interest form, etc. I'd guess that you will have to use your real name. I suspect those applying to the FDC would also appreciate knowing who the members of the committee are. Perhaps the FDC or WMF legal could weigh in here. -- phoebe | talk 23:15, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- My guess is that the difference between the Board and the FDC requirements is intentional. This makes sense particularly if you want regular editors from the Wikipedia community to be involved. Anonymity is highly-valued in Wikipedia, certainly very much so in the English one and probably moreso in more oppressive jurisdictions. With that said, I am willing to privately give out my real-name to FDC applicants or board members with the hope that they don't put it up online. It's not a secret, but I don't want it on Google.
