Overwriting info *on* Wikidata?
edit- If the interwiki links remain in the article, they overwrite the info on Wikidata.
Surely that isn't correct, it should be "they overwrite the info from Wikidata". I updated the article. -- S Page (WMF) (talk) 01:56, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, sure, thanks.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:24, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Visual differentiation of wikidata and wiki text interwiki links
editIs the a way to distinguish which interwiki links come from wiki text and which not? This would be so that editors can easily identify anomalies and investigate why it is so. Will there be some sort of hidden category which will identify which articles contain interwiki links from wiki text, especially on watchlist? --Pepsi Lite (talk) 23:51, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Not that I know of. I left a request at the Wikidata Project Chat several days ago, but so far nobody volunteered to write a script.--Ymblanter (talk) 11:35, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

"To provide the title..."
editI tried to translate this page, but now I have question myself. The page says: "It is however possible to provide the title of an article on a given Wikipedia and get back the corresponding item in Wikidata for easier searching and more." What does this mean? How and where do we "provide the title"? Where does the "easier searching" happen? What is "and more"? Mathonius (talk) 18:37, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
- I did not write that, but I guess what it means is that one can just take the article title from the corresponding Wikipedia and fill it in in Wikidata as a label in corresponding language. "More" means, for instance, choosing an item from the drop-down menu to add to a claim.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:44, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
- Now also reformulated this statement.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:47, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
- Much better! Thank you very much! Mathonius (talk) 19:16, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
Cyrillic support
editWill cyrillic support be enabled before deployment in Wikipedias using Cyrillic alphabet (Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and others)? Wikidata is currently hardly ever usable for Cyrillic titles, so it is completely impossible to find an article that is available in languages with Cyrillic alphabet only. I suppose that Wikidata should not be deployed in languages with Cyrillic alphabets, as in the current version we can easily have duplicate items without any possibility to find them — NickK (talk) 21:14, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
- Is your question only about search (which is not ideal in Latin script languages as well), or smth else? I have an English interface, and for me search is almost useless.--Ymblanter (talk) 08:48, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- My question is primarily about search, but I suppose that there may be some other bugs. I have a Ukrainian interface, and for me search simply useless. I mean that I am currently unable to find if I have to create a new page for Ukrainian article or link it to some existing one, with, say, Russian and Belorussian articles, as I can find an article only if it has a page in some Latin script language AND I know its name (which is usually pretty difficult, given different transliteration systems in different languages) — NickK (talk) 09:29, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- Have you already tried d:Special:ItemByTitle? The search definitely needs to improve (and we're working on that) but this page is useful for what you probably want to do. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 09:56, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- Indeed, Lydia already answered. To my knowledge, the plain search is the only thing which does not work, and if there are other issues, they should be reported indeed.--Ymblanter (talk) 10:22, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

License
editAll structured data from the main and property namespace is available under the Creative Commons CC0 License, but interwikis in wikipedias have been copied and they were avaliable under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. Is it legal?--Ssola (talk) 18:32, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- I do not have a good answer, but aren't they trivial and thus not copyrightable?--Ymblanter (talk) 03:16, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes I am pretty sure these count as trivial. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 11:00, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
Sorting order
editDoes the ordering in each wiki follows interwiki sorting order? ...Aurora... (talk) 09:19, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
- There are settings for adapting the order of language links, yes. They might not be set correctly initially for all the remaining Wikipedias (over 280 left) when we switch them on on 6th. Please let us know if yours is wrong after deployment. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 12:57, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
Interwiki links for new pages.
edit"One option is just to add links. There will probably be bots around to add the links to Wikidata." - does this mean that there are users who have bots scanning different wikipedias for new pages with interwiki-link and inserting them to wikidata? If no, could I configure my bot (uk:user:aibot) for searching such new articles in uk-wiki and adding the correspondent information to wiki-data? --A1 (talk) 00:07, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- There are still bots around, but please configure your bot as well: There were complains about delays meaning that the number of bots are probably insufficient.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:58, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Does it really work?
editI`ve just created a new item for Ukrainian and Russian pages. But I don`t see interwiki nor in Ukrainian page (to Russian), nor in Russian (to Ukrainian). Why? --A1 (talk) 22:06, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- I see it in both. I think it was a caching issue. --Base (talk) 22:22, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Phase II and Lua
editIs it possible to access data from any Wikidata item? As far I see mw.wikibase.getEntity() can be used only for accessing the Wikidata page corresponding to the current page. --DixonD (talk) 21:00, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- That is not possible yet. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 10:56, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- It's a pity, I wanted to start creating really nice navboxes. Ok, I will wait more:) --DixonD (talk) 12:09, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- This is important for me too. I pine for the ability to traverse Property:P171 parent taxon through multiple levels. Is there a place where I can subscribe to updates about this particular feature? - Soulkeeper (talk) 12:17, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- There wasn't but I have now filed bugzilla:47930 for it. Feel free to subscribe to it. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 13:56, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. Will vote and subscribe. - Soulkeeper (talk) 15:43, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Links in {{#property}}
?
edit
I put in and it included the text correctly, but without a clickable link to the item. Shouldn't it include the link automatically? (I don't want to put in the link with
[[]]
because the property may have multiple values.)
Jefft0 (talk) 03:43, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- With the next release the software will deal better with multiple values. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 12:38, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- It might also be solved by using Lua, see Border countrys of Germany on the test2 system. The Lua module:Wikidata still has some bugs, but is being worked upon. HenkvD (talk) 11:42, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
Purge/refresh process
editI'm having a bit of a problem. I recently refactored the infobox from ro:Țările de Jos (the Netherlands), and I filled in some Wikidata properties. Most of them are OK, but when I used the P46 property (head of national government), it returned the text q57792, as the article on Mark Rutte didn't exist on ro.wp yet. I saved the page, and moved on to create a stub on Mark Rutte, and to enter it into the corresponding item at Wikidata. Even though I repeatedly purged the ro:Țările de Jos page, the property did not refresh to take on the correct value. Is there a special technique to force a reload?Andrei Stroe (talk) 12:07, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- Did you try a null edit? Rsocol (talk) 13:33, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- After a second thought, I don't think it will work, either. I believe a change of d:Property:P46 on the d:Q55 page is needed. Anyway, this seems like a problem that should to be corrected in the software, in such a way that the pages are updated automatically. Rsocol (talk) 13:38, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- To your first question: yes, I did. It did't work. That's why I'm here.Andrei Stroe (talk) 17:12, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I have reported it as bugzilla:47929. We'll have to look into this. Not good. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 13:52, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

h1
editThis page incorrectly uses h1. They need to be converted to level 2 headers (with level 3 below them) and all translations fixed accordingly. --Nemo 13:29, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
