Hello! Are there any possiblites to create a ranking, for example of the top 100 most visited articles in a category. Because my browser has not enough random access memory to list all the articles and then it crashes. I'm using Chrome 59.0 and Windows 10 --ChemPro (talk) 10:19, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Sorry to hear that! Indeed, this suite of apps currently operates entirely on the clientside, meaning the more pages you process, the more strain and resources your computer needs to allot. Which category are you referring to? Is it breaking for all categories?

Bug with apostrophe in Massviews

Resolved.

There is a problem with decoding/encoding (maybe?) in the source of Massviews Analysis. You can't use a category with apostrophe as a source. You can avoid this problem if you escape apostrophe with a backslash. For example, ca:Category:Gastronomia de l'Empordà.--KRLS (talk) 08:18, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Userviews Analysis stops at the penultimate entry

Does not work on Wikipidia ina Jumiekan Patwa

About Pageviews, for a month, I can not see the graphs of statistics. Whatever the type of graph: line, bar, radar

I have the same configuration on my PC for 3 years: windows 8 + IE 11 (version 11.0.9600.18763). On my second computer, everything works correctly.

Same on en.wikipedia, any page since weeks, under Win7+FirefoxESR52.3.0+UblockOrigin+Noscript w/tools.wmflabs.org whitelisted. Comes up with "Fatal error: Operation timed out. Please refresh the page to try again or report this issue" after 30s. -85.240.218.205 23:08, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

I tried it on Windows 8.1 + IE 11 and Windows 7 + Firefox 52 and it worked fine for me. 2A01:CB14, could you tell me what happens? Do you get the same "Fatal error" that 85.240.218.205 is getting?

85.240.218.205, does it work if you turn off uBlock and NoScript? Does it work on another browser or computer?

@MusikAnimal (WMF): I have never seen this remark "Fatal error", nor any other. Description: The graph is reduced to a blue line on the zero line. On vertical-intercept, there's just the line 1 above and strangely the line -1 below. Down the dates are correctly displayed. If I add items in the search bar, then 19 points appear on the blue line of the graph, or 29 points if I choose the option 30 days.... Using Wikipedia:Reporting JavaScript errors, I see sometimes in Console (in French) : script 438 L’objet ne gère pas la propriété ou la méthode « isNaN » Fichier : application.js, ligne : 17, colonne : 25740. 2A01:CB14:1E0:9900:2112:4A52:F7BB:D5ED 09:42, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

Does not work on (French?) WIktionary

Hi, it ssems that this tool does not work on the French Wiktionary (maybe also on the other Wiktionay project as well). For example, I try to use for the page eau, but nothing appears (https://tools.wmflabs.org/pageviews/?project=fr.wiktionary.org&platform=all-access&agent=user&range=latest-20&pages=eau). In the same time, it works here for the page from fr.wikipedia.org. Could you fix this tool in order it works also for the Wiktionary projects? Thanks in advance. @MusikAnimal (WMF): hmmm, actually I found what was wrong here. I use Firefox 52.3.0 on Mageia Linux 6 64-bits. The problem came from I use an extension that blocked fr.wiktionary.org. If I allow it, it works well. Sorry for the noise. Pamputt (talk) 19:02, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Pageviews bug report

This is a very minor issue but thought I'd let you know anyway. I viewed Pageviews analysis on an article I created 10 days ago - the 'daily average' figure isn't really correct because it's taking into account the currently visible range (the last 20 days). This would normally be correct but perhaps the tool could take into account if it's a new article and ignore any days previous to its creation date? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.69.87.21 (talk) 14:00, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Supporting multiple languages in Pageviews

Is there a possibility that instead of Pageviews showing one language at a time only, we can use a union of multiple languages? For example, if I want to check the views on the pages in all Indic language wikis combined? )(So in languages, I would add "hi.wikipedia.org,bn.wikipedia.org"

I think it should be relatively not that major to implement. So is it possible?

@Soni: It's a little more complicated than it seems, mainly from a UI perspective. I can't promise this will happen anytime soon :( However I wanted to make sure you were aware of Langviews. This tool takes a single page and collects the pageviews for the same page across all sister projects. Does that fulfill your needs? MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 02:19, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

• @MusikAnimal (WMF):, yes I am aware of Langviews. But Langviews allows us to analyse a page across different languages, it also does not do so for multiple pages. A sample testcase for what I would like would be "Rajnikanth" vs "Amitabh Bachchan" in Indic languages. Both are pages that will have multiple languages contributing to the overall number of pageviews, and we can compare the two pages properly (in non English languages) only by summing the different languages.

As for the UI perspective, my suggestion was for a cleaner approach for a basic version. If I ask for comparing "Page1" and "Page2" across "en,hi,ar,ml" languages, then just display a similar graph to current one. One graph for a sum of pageviews across all these languages. That will be relatively easy to implement, without requiring UI additions, I believe. Soni (talk) 21:43, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

The issue for me is what to put in the little boxes that are shown in the "Pages" list. You could do "en:Page1", "fr:Page2", which makes it clear which languages we're working with, but not which projects (Wikipedia vs Wikivoyage, etc.). We'd have to have "w:en:Page1", etc., which looks confusing. Additionally, the way the app is built is to update immediately as soon as you change the value of the project input field. Here we'd need to pause and wait for them enter the page before updating, since the pages that are already shown may be for different projects. Also the search won't know which project to autocomplete for when you add/remove pages from the list. Not sure if that makes sense... anyhoo I'll put this on the back burner, but again no promises this will happen soon :/ I've created phab:T175930. Passing variables by _GET and giving values out of a "human" range. Example: pass to "latest" 250000.

Taken for example a link like https://tools.wmflabs.org/pageviews/?project=it.wikipedia.org&platform=all-access&agent=user&range=latest-20&pages=Dog%7CCat If you pass a value to "latest" var, out of tolerance for analyisis, eg "250000", page slows terribly down until it breaks showing blank body. Variables on the server-side should be filtered. On the contrary, imho system risks performance issues.

Error question

Hi there - wondering if anyone can help me. When I did a query for subpages using massviews, I got the following message for several of the pages: "Error querying Pageviews API - Not found." Here is the permalink for the query. We recently moved pages from a namespace to the article namespace. I'm wondering if that might have something to do with the error. @EGalvez (WMF): It looks like maybe you need to update the page to link to the new locations and not to the redirects. This is because redirects are not followed. E.g. instead of linking to Talk:Learning and Evaluation/Learning modules/1Edits link to Talk:Learning and Evaluation/Archive/Learning modules. Note that pageviews are also counted for the redirects themselves. Here you're not getting any numbers probably because the data hasn't populated yet, or not one has actually viewed those redirects yet. There's some more info in the FAQ. Hope this helps!
