Because an Interlingue Wikipedia exists, this Wikisource can potentially also exist, at least in theory. Since content is being created on Multilingual Wikisource, I am therefore marking the request as "eligible". Per the discussion below, whether or not the content will ever grow into something approvable is a separate question that we don't need to decide here and now.   • The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
  • The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
  • The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Settings
Project name Wikifonte "Wikisource" in your language
Project namespace usually the same as the project name
Project talk namespace "Wikisource talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace)
Enable uploads no Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons.
If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin").
Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons.
Optional settings
Project logo This needs to be an SVG image (instructions for logo creation).
Default project timezone "Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones)
Additional namespaces For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk".

Proposal edit

This is either a request for an Interlingue (Occidental) domain on Wikisource, or for ideas. Occidental began with the publishing of a magazine called Kosmoglott in 1922, renamed Cosmoglotta in 1929. The second link is Cosmoglotta B, which existed for two reasons: 1) to be a separate, cheaper publication for Occidentalists to discuss more linguistic issues while Cosmoglotta A was more general literature and news, 2) as the only Cosmoglotta published during WWII by the Occidentalists in Switzerland. So from 1940 to 1945 it was the only Cosmoglotta published.

There are about 100 pages per year, 3000~3500 pages in total. Many of them are pretty close to illegible for a machine which is why I would like to manually add them here. One other thing: Occidental was kind of gradually worked into its current shape over a period of 25 years, reaching its current form in 1947. It has not changed significantly but enough that I would like to type up both an as-is version as well as a modernized one. An example of the differences between 1935 and now:

Now, as to why I'm not necessarily gung-ho for this request but am making it anyway: if a single magazine, even a large one, isn't enough to justify a separate Wikisource I would be fine with adding it somewhere else. In fact, I would prefer that. Cosmoglotta also includes a lot of references to other constructed languages, so if I could simply upload it as a multilingual magazine then that would be even better. This is an interesting case where I have a lot of material to upload but don't necessarily think it justifies a separate Wikisource. But if the community thinks it should go on its own Wikisource then it can be put there.

@Mithridates: Hi.

  • In principle, this project could be eligible. In any case, the place to start would not be with an independent project, but rather by putting your content on Multilingual Wikisource. Go to Wikisource:Scriptorium, where you will find resources to help you get started. (Calling @OWTB for information/assistance.)
    Important: Please make sure that the magazines you wish to incorporate are in the public domain! If they are under copyright, they will be deleted.
  • As a practical matter, any content in Interlingue/Occidental can stay on Multilingual Wikisource "forever" (whatever that means). If over time you have incorporated enough content, you can have it spun off into an independent subdomain. But there's no hurry, and especially with Wikisource material, we are perfectly happy to let things stay on Multilingual Wikisource indefinitely if contributors prefer.
