Requests for new languages/Wikiquote Hausa

submitted verification final decision

This language has been verified as eligible.
The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page.

Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval.

If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval.

A committee member provided the following comment:

There shouldn't be any issues with eligibility. Please start contributing on incubator. --Sotiale (talk) 11:40, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
  • The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
  • The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Proposal edit

Hausa is a diverse language spoken by thousands of people across Africa and its natives can be found all over the world . It is an old language with it's independent heritage and history, it is also a course of study in many higher institutions across Africa. The Language has it's own wikis like Hausa Wikipedia [1], Wikitionary [2] and lots of contributors/informations on Wikidata, commons etc. There has being a significant increase in contributions from the Hausa Communities across all Wikis and there are lots of active users on Wikipedia Wikis as well. I personally have came across a number of interestig quotations from many prominent people whom there articles exist on Wikipedia and I believe if this new Hausa Wikiquote is created, will increase the languages' diversity as well as Wikipedia readability especially from the language users across the World. Uncle Bash007 (talk) 11:45, 5 July 2022 (UTC) Well-done ,it's a very good idea bro. I Will be awaiting with my contributions.Hamza DK (talk)[reply]

Discussion edit

Also, who would not like to know qoute in his own native language? Therefore, I will give as much contributions as I can as my token of appreciation just to see this project is a success.

Wow! I was just coming across this now and believe me this is super great idea. It will support the hausa Community in so many ways.i have known about a campaign like this in Yoruba. I think having something like this in hausa is also a killer idea. It's so great and we can't wait to contribute immensely ok it. All thanks to User:Uncle Bash007.
