Preamble

Pilipinas Panorama Community (PPC) is a thematic Wikimedia organization based in the National Capital Region of the Philippines.

The community was founded by Filipino Wikimedians advocating equity, cultural heritage, history, language & ethnicity, art, freedom of panorama, and Wikimedia's Movement Strategy, contributing to expand the global availability of free knowledge.

Background

Freedom of Panorama (FoP) as a major concern created numerous discussions within the Philippine Wikimedia Kapihan Network, mainly because of its dearth of clarity in the intellectual property laws of the Philippines. In February 2021, the Bureau of Copyright and Related Rights of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) conducted a dialogue with Filipino Wikimedians to examine the Freedom of Panorama and Copyright law. Since then, an active support group for FoP in the Philippines was deemed necessary within the movement.

In a parallel development, a proposal was revisited by members of the Naga City-based Wikimedia affiliate, PhilWiki Community (PH-WC), for branches to be established in other Philippine regions to complement its main headquarters. The soonest viable user group extension was a proposed "Manila Branch", henceforth the latter's Manila-based Wikimedians provisionally set up a Manila Community.

Niadtong Disyembre 02, 2022, duha ka PH-WC Past Presidents, Juan Bautista H. Alegre ug Ralff Nestor S. Nacor ang nagtukod ug usa ka startup PhilWiki Community - Manila; apan bisan pa niini, niadtong Disyembre 14, 2022, ang seminal nga komunidad mismo ang mitapos sa kaugalingon nga tematikong mga tumong, ug busa pormal nga nahimong independente nga Pilipinas Panorama Community (PPC) isip usa ka tematikong organisasyon sa Wikimedia.

Hangtud sa Enero 29, 2023, ang Kaniadtong Chairman sa Wikimedia Philippines (WMPH) nga si John Paul Antes miapil sa thematic nga komunidad, nga naghatag ug baroganan sa PPC isip usa ka composite sa duha ka Philippine affiliates: ang wala na nga WMPH (karon ang Wiki Society of the Philippines) ug ang nahisgutang PH- WC.
