Nadzik edit

From time to time I edit pages that include translation markup. I am familiar with it and have worked with it extensively when I was a part-time contractor for the Wikimedia Foundation (on my dedicated account: User:MNadzikiewicz (WMF). --Nadzik (talk) 18:29, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Oppose I cannot support people who ignore their talk page in a project where they have advanced rights --Ameisenigel (talk) 20:29, 11 December 2023 (UTC) Neutral Neutral after reading the response from 11:01, 13 December 2023 (UTC) --Ameisenigel (talk) 14:17, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ameisenigel, you can see in my logs that I do not have translation admin permissions (nor any other advanced permissions for some time already). I've asked and someone assured me that they would expire with my temporary administrator permissions (which they apparently did). I made a mental note about that, but sadly never answered this user. I hoped to have more time during the summer to help set up Wikifunctions, but unfortunately, other than some off-wiki discussion with community members, I wasn't active. This is also why I haven't asked the community to prolong my rights after the initial period finished.
Putting this aside, I still believe that getting TranslationAdmin on Meta would be beneficial and I do posses skills to use it. Nadzik (talk) 00:35, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose It doesn't take much to give a response to someone even if you disagree, and it is important for any advanced permission holder at least be open to discussion about their tool usage. The response above isn't quite right considering the TA was removed by stewards after a request and WF added a new rule to prevent temp admins from adding perm TA in the future from this situation if I remember correctly. @Terasail, you are right – here. I wasn't aware of that until I checked it now, I see no ping of that in my notifications, and SRP is a page I rarely visit when I don't have a need. I must have gotten wrong information then. In my defense (this also goes to @Ameisenigel), I received his note on a first day of Wikimania. I really do remember reading that, it must have been the emotions of that week that made me forget to write him back (it was not a disagreement!). I was reminded about this when he mentioned it again above. So sorry for this.
You can both see from my pl.wiki logs pl:Specjalna:Uprawnienia/Nadzik that I am usually quite careful with rights management, only granting them myself for a short time and often disabling them earlier than set, as soon as I no longer have a need for them. Makes sense, and the other contribs I have seen look good but given the recency of this and the fact that there has been a few months to follow up even if you forget in the moment, I am still inclined to oppose. Terasail[✉️] 13:15, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Support. The two oppose comments above were based on a single mistake the OP made, namely not responding to a comment on Wikifunctions (and a related error there). However, it appears to me that not only has the OP admitted fault for this, they seem to have given a reasonable explanation on why this happened. Keeping that in mind, I'm inclined to support the OP's request, as the user is otherwise in good standing, has the necessary experience, and that the issue can be left behind. Support Support. After reviewing some pages marked for translation, the segmentation looks fine. However, please take care to add tvars where needed to help translators. -- Pols12 (talk) 14:40, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support Support per Pols12. ─ The Aafī (talk) 18:14, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support Support, the user knows his stuff already and will do a good job, also he needs the rights for the work to come. Also also, I am convinced he will take into account the remarks posted above, as he is a quick learner and committed to the community. Wojciech Pędzich Talk 19:31, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns were raised about responsiveness, but subsequent responses and comments from other users show that they can improve this. Therefore, I attach the TA flag. Additionally, the fact that TA can be removed more easily than the admin flag also lowers the risk, so I don't think there will be any major problems. --Sotiale (talk) 09:26, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
