User:Abuse filter

I just noticed CentralAuth/Abuse_filter has recently been added to the en-wv (sysop) group. I'd just like to confirm that this account is part of the AbuseFilter extension and inquire if it is active on our project. (Wikiversity is not listed in the configuration comparison table and I see no logged actions) --mikeu talk 22:11, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi mikeu. Yes, this is an account the abuse filter extension uses. Due to some fixes done in the code, the account was promoted to +sysop on all wikis. This was a side-effect triggered by some old code the extension had. The permissions from the account can be safely removed (the AF extension doesn't need any additional rights on-wiki to work, it's for show only). Changes are being done in abuse filter for this not to happen anymore. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 22:25, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. Does it just use our local abuse filter or does it additionally trigger on any global filter?
Is it possible to enable a global user page for this pseudo account? It popped up with the local user page as a redlink which caused me a little confusion. We prefer to have descriptive message at user pages like User:MediaWiki default that show up in user lists by group. --mikeu talk 22:44, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
@Mu301: If we used global filters to block accounts/IPs, then it would utilise that account name. The practice implemented for global abuse filters is NOT to set them to block users, and you can see that instruction via MediaWiki:Abusefilter-edit-action-block.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:35, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
With regard to a global user page, we could however it is not particularly feasible as the account has a translateable name depending on the language, so it would means one per language, or one, and then redirects for all the others. If you feel that it is needed, then create one at your wiki. Noting that the blocking component with the resultant red link has always been there, it is just the actual created account that is new. For examples, compare this and this.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:44, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
This will hopefully not be a problem anymore after we finish some Phab. tasks to migrate AbuseFilter to use a single, global username. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:32, 6 April 2019 (UTC)

Retargeting a redirect to the Main Page

The link Haaptsäit (Luxembourgish for "Main Page") redirects to the English Main Page, but a Luxembourgish translation of the Main Page now exists. When I went to change the target of the redirect from Main Page to Main Page/lb I couldn't access the redirect itself because there was no "Redirected from..." link at the top of the page. Does anyone know how to access the redirect itself so that the target can be changed from Main Page to Main Page/lb? DraconicDark (talk) 20:21, 6 April 2019 (UTC)

Hey DraconicDark! You can right click the link, copy the link destination; paste it into your address bar, and then append "?redirect=no" - you'll get a link like this: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Haapts%C3%A4it?redirect=no , which is the redirect page itself. stwalkerster (talk) 21:49, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
@DraconicDark: if you have lb set as your default language, then it should reset to the Main Page/lb automatically, that is the design of the system and all translation pages. The redirects are not set within the translation system and instead set through mediawiki messages, not with forced means. What I believe that you are seeing is a redirect to the main page/en as that is the language that you are using, change your default and all should work as expected where an /lb translation page exists.  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:48, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
And in relation to the redirect that exists, as numbers of languages can have the same translation for "Main Page" we should not be making the redirect specific to a language, we should allow each person's language selection to rule once they get to the main page.  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:55, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
Redirecting a Luxembourgish search query to a non-Luxembourgish page is above all confusing and unexpected behaviour. Hauptseite, Pagrindinis puslapis, etc. also redirect to the respective languages. Cases where "numbers of languages can have the same translation" are handled like Головна сторінка. Therefore, I agree with the change of redirect target and think this section can be regarded resolved. --Vogone (talk) 00:01, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

This page needs some attention. These are some issues I have seen:

 • Most fonts do not have a source link. This is important for creating and testing files before uploading.
 • Some fonts even in the so-called "official list" don't work. For example, FreeSerif and MgOpen Canonica do not seem to render.
 • Some fonts are listed in inappropriate sections. For example, DejaVu Sans is listed in the Japanese and Korean sections, when this font does not have characters in those subranges.

Is there a way these can be fixed easily, ie without spending hours searching for these fonts and uploading tons of test SVGs to see what works? --Lasunncty (talk) 10:06, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Hmm, Noto is the damnly free licensed font family, why not just adpot full of that? --60.26.9.154 00:51, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

Language of user

Hello,

For my user page, I want a variable that is the code of the language of the user, but y have only {{CUONTENTLANGUAGE}, that is the default language of the wiki, but I want the favourite language of the user. Do you know a variable ?

Thanks & Sincerely, Aabbccddeeffabcdef (talk), the 08:43, 29 April 2019 (UTC).

Hello @Aabbccddeeffabcdef: LangSwitch. Example:

Watch my Page. Regards. --Eihel (talk) 08:50, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
Good morning Eihel,
Thank you for the code.
Sincerely, Aabbccddeeffabcdef (talk), the 08:53, 29 April 2019 (UTC).
Example more concrete Aabbccddeeffabcdef: Template:User_Small_Wiki_Monitoring_Team, with many translations. Can be used with . Pages on other wikis are better documented (Media, enwiki, etc.). --Eihel (talk) 09:03, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
