How to translate ns:Image

How translate ns:Image in languageRu.php?

  • as Image (in russian Изображение)
  • as Mediafile (in russian Медиафайл)

Tab label "special page"

In the section "Tab labels", the first tab is said to show a label "Special" for the (pseudo-)namespace Special. For special pages, however, the label reads "special page". No discrepancy is found for the other labels including "User page" and "content page" (though I cannot find the "media" label).--Toby (YebisYa) IQUEPPE 18:07, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I have removed them, it is not clear to me either.--Patrick 22:55, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Listing of all articles/pages

Is it possible to provide a listing of all articles/pages in a namespace, similar to the subcategories and article listings provided by categories?

Yes, that is possible now, with Special:Allpages.--Patrick 09:33, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

How to add a Today's Featured Article feature on our page?

Any idea how to add a Wikipedia like feature of Today's Featured Article on a Wikimedia site I have come up with please?

Thanks a lot.

These pages (see list) are inserted as template.--Patrick 09:33, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

Custom namespace does not work

I add custom namespaces, as described in Help:Custom_namespaces (assume I add a Books namespace); afterwards I place while editing a link like [[Books:Start]], click on it (I see Books:Start title, all right), edit it, but the page is placed in main namespace. I use the latest version of mediaWiki, 1.4.4. What do I wrong? -- User:Boyandin 18:20, 2-nd of June, 2005 (GMT+6)

I seem to be having the same problem... Any ideas? --Semorrison 23:26, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

How to make a tab to a corresponding page in a custom namespace?

I have created a namespace, and would like an additional tab on each page, to create an article in that namespace (just exactly like the Talk namespace works). Can someone point me to a link to instructions on how to add one more tab to each page? What am looking to do is create an additional tab with a link of the form http://myservername/index.php?title=My_New_Name_Space:Same_Title_As_The_Source_Page&action=edit Thanks! Only the main namespace works

Someone changed the namespaces from the default to greek in el.wikipedia.org but something probably went wrong, and only the main namespace works. At the moment greek wikipedia is not functional. Could someone please check it? --Geraki 10:13, 15 May 2005 (UTC)

It seems to work: el:Φόρμα:10 Ιανουαρίου Επιλεγμένα Γεγονότα.--Patrick 10:30, 15 May 2005 (UTC)

Wikiprojects in Finnish Wikipedia

Is it possible to have an extra, real namespace for wikiprojects? People in Finnish Wikipedia have been considering this because they'd like to rename the wikiproject pages from Wikipedia:WikiProjekti_<name> to something simpler. We are going to vote about this, and we'd like to know, if this can be an option. -Hapsiainen 08:55, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

I think you can best ask Eloquence.--Patrick 10:47, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
Yes, it's possible - I hacked an option for this a while ago. Let me know when you've made a decision and I can set up an extra namespace for you.--Eloquence 11:18, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll remember it because this page is in my edit history... But we still have to vote for it. -Hapsiainen 11:46, Jun 1, 2005 (UTC)

New pages within new namespaces

I just created a new namespace. How am I supposed to create pages within that namespace, and how do I access them? What's the url for a new namespace? I'm lost here, and can't find answers to these simple questions ;-)

As usual, like Hilfe:Namensraum.--Patrick 23:20, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Namespaces which point to other projects

Ok I see how to create custom namespaces hosted on the same site, but how do I create namespaces pointing to other projects, like w:en:Somepage points to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somepage?

See Help:Guide for system administrators for setting up interwiki linking.--Patrick 06:28, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Hide namespaces in category view

Firstly

I want the namespace hidden like you can with [bla:blah|], but in the category view. The reason is this: I have a custom namespace like Game: and a category FPS and when I look at the [Category:FPS] page, I would like things like [Game:Quake] and [Game:Warsow] (wich are in the FPS category) to be sorted alphabeticaly, ok, it does already, but I want to exclude the Namespace [Game:]. Just look at this: [Category:FPS]

Secondly

Secondly I'd like the game namespace to act like the category namespace, so when you go to the [game] page, you see the things that have the game namespace. I'd like it when you put some reaction on the talkpage of Games or Warsaw.

namespace is of type int

from #mediawiki:

brion gangleri: it's an 'int' field now, so in theory probably 2^31-1 is the maximum namespace value
2^31-1 is 2.147.483.647 regards Gangleri | Th | T 21:31, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
