Not much here - just a little about me and my whining. ;-)

Really, I am building a wiki for internal company documentation. I have figured out that there are two features missing from Mediawiki that I could really use.

  1. Image maps. I need to be able to put an image on a page, and define portions of that image as a link to another page. Currently, the hack is to overlay a table on an image, and put links in the table cells. Seriously less than elegant. Please feel free to vote for enhancement request 1227
  2. Additional tabs. I know how to create new names spaces. I would like to create a new tab on every page, linking to a namespace'd page. Just exactly like the Talk pages, but for my own namespaces. Yes, I could co-opt the the Talk page, renaming it "Security", for example - but that does not help me when I need another tab named "Environmental" (for example). Apparently, the ability to add another tab to a page is horrifically complex, because my requests for instructions on how to do so have been met with deafening silence.... ;-)

For what it is worth, I have been successful in using an ODBC connection to MySQL, to update pages via programs I write. The alternate namespaces come in handy here.
