Dedicated to User:Halibutt

edit

While finishing up this proposal on January 31st, we were hit by the very sad news that Krzysztof Machocki (Halibutt) had passed away. Krzysztof's enthusiasm and energy will be sorely missed in the CEE community and we aim to emulate his dedication to the ideas we all hold dear in the years to come. Therefore this year's edition of CEE Spring is dedicated to his memory. Braveheart (talk) 20:55, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Braveheart, thank you for this lovely dedication. May people at the Wikimedia Foundation have been deeply touched by Halibutt's life and by his contribution to the Wikimedia movement. I am glad that this year's CEE Spring will include a tribute to him. --Marti (WMF) (talk) 02:17, 17 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Aggregated feedback from the committee for Wikimedia CEE Spring 2018

edit
Scoring rubric Score
(A) Impact potential
  • Does it have the potential to increase gender diversity in Wikimedia projects, either in terms of content, contributors, or both?
  • Does it have the potential for online impact?
  • Can it be sustained, scaled, or adapted elsewhere after the grant ends?
8.2
(B) Community engagement
  • Does it have a specific target community and plan to engage it often?
  • Does it have community support?
8.2
(C) Ability to execute
  • Can the scope be accomplished in the proposed timeframe?
  • Is the budget realistic/efficient ?
  • Do the participants have the necessary skills/experience?
8.6
(D) Measures of success
  • Are there both quantitative and qualitative measures of success?
  • Are they realistic?
  • Can they be measured?
7.4
Additional comments from the Committee:
  • The project fit with Wikimedia's strategic priorities. It has a relatively large potential for online impact. I think that the results of these contests will be sustained and will endure.
  • the CEE region began to show concrete results and it is important to continue supporting joint projects.
  • No big innovation, it's the usual formula
  • The approach is iterative. The risks do not appear to be very high. The success can be reliably measured.
  • Success measures are clear, proven in previous years and organizers have great experience
  • The scope can be accomplished in 12 months. The budget is realistic and the participants have necessary skills.
  • the budget is very clear and reasonable. This is an example of what a transparetous budget looks like without a hidden cost, and guess what - there is no fee for the organizers. a true volunteer project  :)
  • The community engagement is limited.
  • I would compare it with Wiki Loves Monuments. In this case there are international prizes but every local team organizes its own local contest. It's a rapid grant.
  • I see no reason not to support this proposal,
