Grants:Project/Telling your story

In an effort to acknowledge the valuable projects that will be created by new grantees, and to help expand their reach and foster collaboration across the movement, we are hosting two events: a Project Showcase (June 14) and a storytelling workshop (June 5) to help you prepare for the showcase.

Participation in both events is optional. If you don’t participate in the storytelling workshop, however, and you would like to present your project on the project showcase, we do require that you fill out and send us this worksheet in order to participate.

If you would like to participate in either or both events, please RSVP below by June 1.

Storytelling workshop - June 5 edit

This workshop for new grantees will help you to communicate about your project more effectively. The ability to tell a compelling story about your project can make a significant difference to its reach and impact. In this training, Maria Cruz, the Communication & Outreach Project Manager at the Wikimedia Foundation, will guide you through steps to strengthen your project’s story. One goal of this training is to prepare new grantees for the project showcase, where you will have an opportunity to connect to a broader audience, and possibly find new contributors and receive support from fellow Wikimedians.

Project Showcase - June 14 edit

During the publicly streamed project showcase, all new grantees are invited to briefly share about your projects and learn about the other projects funded. The recording will be available later on for you to use as a communication tool, or in any way you want. We will invite MediaWiki developers, communication specialists, project managers, community liaisons, and Wikimedia Foundation staff. This is a great opportunity to practice sharing your message about your project, alert the wider community about your work and attract volunteers and allies to support you.
