Grants talk:Project/Rapid/YWpgh/Young Leaders of YWCA Greater Pittsburgh Editathon

Latest comment: 6 years ago by YWpgh

Hi YWpgh. Thank you for your patience as we reviewed your request! It's great to see this proposal from YWCA Greater Pittsburgh and the focus on contributing articles about women's social impact. We have a few comments/questions before we can move forward on the request.

  1. You have clearly done a lot of research in how to be well-prepared for an editathon. Having a Wikipedia ambassador and experienced Wikimedians at the event is critical. Have you already identified the 5 Wikimedians who will participate?
  2. A cost of $2,000 is very high for a single editathon and areas of the budget will need to be reduced. We recommend cutting the event swag. We also do not typically pay speaker honorariums.

Please let us know if you have questions. Best, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 20:01, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@YWpgh: Just a reminder that we'll need you to respond to the above questions as soon as your able to make a decision on your proposal. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 18:13, 6 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reviewing our request to Wikimedia for our upcoming editathon, and for your questions.
Hilary, who submitted the request on our behalf, is out of town and I am having trouble logging in to respond, so I am emailing you directly in the hopes we can proceed from there. Posted below are your questions and our responses:

Our Wikipedia ambassadors are Barbara Page, Visiting Scholar at the University of Pittsburgh and kelly Doyle, Wikipedian in Residence for Gender Equity.
Last week, the following YWCA Young Leaders were trained as Wikimedians: Sylvia Winston Nichols, Michelle Bradbury, Julia Marsili, Catie Cohn, Taylor Doaty, Annie Guadagnino, Dominique Luster, Kelly Nestman, Rounida Shwaish, Victoria Snyder, Corinne Volosky

A revised budget request follows:
  • Food and drink = $17 x 50 participants = $850
  • Space Rental = $250
  • Marketing/Promotion (promoted social media posts, printing costs, etc.) = $100
  • Miscellaneous supplies (pens, paper, printing, power strips, etc.) = $150
Total = $1,350 USD
Thank you for you help with this – please let me know what further action I should take to “officially” register our response.
Appreciate your assistance!
Ellen
@YWpgh: Hi Ellen, thanks for your response above. These changes to the budget look appropriate. Could you provide the usernames for these individuals? Alternatively, they can endorse the proposal if they haven't already. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 19:00, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
