Grants talk:Project/Rapid/WikiDonne/La mujer que nunca conosciste 2017 Rome/Report
Comments from I JethroBT (WMF)
editThanks for your report, Camelia. First, I want to applaud your efforts in supporting the development and creation of an impressive amount of content through La mujer que nunca conosciste. I read over a few of the articles, and was pretty impressed by the work on articles such as Gabrielle e Jean and Fiamma Vigo. (Side note: My wife speaks Italian, and she really enjoyed reading these over!) I also enjoyed several of the photos taken during the project.
I think it's great that you highlighted a lot of other outcomes here, such as your creations of beginner guides for registration and translation tasks, and the usefulness of tools you used to manage tasks for the events such as EventBrite and the Outreach Dashboard. Highlighting your satisfaction with these tools helps other organizers prepare for this kind of work in the future. The contest page also makes for a great hub where folks can review progress and what is left to do in your initiative. Thanks for maintaining it. :)
I'm also glad you highlighted some difficulties around bringing in new editors and that there were some challenges in local outreach, even when social media outreach worked well. Sometimes, it's OK for events to focus attention and resources on work that active editors can bring rather than newer editors. That said, if you want to focus on newer editors, I think the idea of having a dedicated person for communications is a good idea.
You've noted that, with the remaining 299,47 EUR, you would like to do another online contest for expert users. I think that's a sensible use of the funds as an extension of this event. In order for us to move forward, when do you plan to hold this event? Do you think you will need just these remaining funds, or will you need to ask for additional funds to hold this next contest?

- Hi JethroBT, I'm glad you noted the quality of these articles written during the contest. The 5 members of our jury gave the 5 jolly points to articles that in their opinion had the best quality: Rose O'Neill, Bice Melzi d'Eril, Fiamma Vigo, Caterina Melzi d'Eril and Giovane donna in tenuta da ballo, all wonderful. For the 299,47 remaining founds, as the Sport project desperately needs help, we thought to do something we neved did before: an online contest to write/improve articles about women in sport. And for this I just finished the grant request page. Thank you, --Camelia.boban (talk) 18:37, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Camelia.boban: Thanks Camelia, and really great to see these good quality articles coming from your project. This report is officially approved.
- Thanks for providing information for your the new proposal. As for the use of the remaining funds, because the project is largely an extension of the existing project, I'm considering this new project to be a reallocation rather than an entirely new Rapid Grant project, as it is conceptually similar to the original project. I'll be moving the page to be a subpage of your initial Rapid Grant proposal, and you won't need to update it Logistically, this will be a little easier for you and us as well, as you won't need to sign a new grant agreement to use these funds. This new request is therefore approved.
- A month after the end date of the event (July 2nd), please report on how grant funds were spent and the outcomes of the contest on this report page in a separate section. Thanks, and good luck with the next contest. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 19:04, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
