Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Thekidpossum/Activité de sensibilisation/Report

Hi Thekidpossum. Thanks so much for this detailed report and all your work organizing the event! We don't generally support more general awareness activities so it's interesting to read about your experience. 40 people (with 50% women) is a great turnout! Were you able to get a sense if any of the people who attended the awareness event participated in the next day's editing event? It's great that you collected so many emails. Have you sent out any follow-up communication? Thanks for documenting all of the social media and other media outreach. It's great to see that there does seem to be some concrete outcomes from the event -- such as the radio interview!

It is fine to hold onto the unspent funds if you plan to use them in the next few months. Using it for the Mois de la contribution francophone in March 2018 sounds like a good idea. If that's the plan, please submit a new (brief) grant request to use those funds. Best, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 19:19, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Alex Wang (WMF), thank you for your remarks and questions. 50% of women is actually what we get in the Mardi c'est Wiki events, when organized under the banner Acfas - Association francophone pour le savoir, the scientific not for profit organization I work for. I maintain, as a volunteer, that partnering with established organization and their network is crucial to diversify the public. This holds true for contribution events or awareness activities. Only 2 people who attended the awareness event participated in the next day's editing event. I was not really surprised : it was the end of the year, people were probably busy! We will have follow-up communication for sure, especially for the Mardi c'est Wiki of March 2018. I now have a list of 150+ people interested in Wiki events. I will submit a very short grant request for the remaining funds for le mois de la contribution francophone. Thanks again for reaching, --Thekidpossum (talk) 16:34, 5 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
