@Erzianj jurnalist: Hello Saint Petersburg User Group, and thanks for your proposal to support a Wiki Youth Forum for your community. I'm Chris, a program officer supporting the review and decisionmaking for Rapid Funding requests in the CEE region. Apologies that the proposed dates for the events needed to be delayed. Unfortunately, my own professional work was disrupted by some COVID-19 related circumstances in January and February, and this delayed my review and ability to support your organization. I am glad the event is still able to be considered! Here are my comments and questions about the proposal:

  • I was able to review this publication on diff regarding the relationship between the Academy and your user group. Congratulations on your work in finding shared interests with the Academy, and for establishing an initial pilot project together!
  • Because this proposal involves the participation of younger students, what policies or practices does the user group and the Academy have to support youth safety? This is an important aspect of eligibility, for which we have described some basic requirements here.
  • It's great to see the user group developing workshops aimed at students to support learning and engaging with the Wikimedia movement early. What sort of topics do you expect to cover or teach, and what impact or outcomes do you expect the workshops to have for these students?
  • Can you describe what roles and responsibilities will be shared between the user group and the academy as it relates to the proposed activities?
  • As a separate note, for future reference, we also maintain a Conference & Event Fund. While I think the Rapid Fund program is a good fit for this proposal given its scope and activities, I would recommend considering that funding program for conference-like activities that are larger in scale (e.g. more participants, more travel scholarships, calls for submissions, etc.)
  • Regarding the travel grant, I need to ask about whose travel this will be supporting and where they will be coming from. Unfortunately, the Foundation is not able to support international travel through our funding programs at this time due to pandemic-related risks.

Please respond to my questions when you are able, and let me know if you have any needs for clarity around my questions. Thanks for your proposal! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:27, 18 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @I JethroBT (WMF):, nice to read you.

I hope you are fine. no problem, just for the event it takes time to get organized, that's why we changed the date.

  • The participants of our event will be with a legal guardian, in addition to its the Academy will take care of having authorizations signed with the legal guardians that they authorize the participation of these young people in this forum, And with the group of young people there will be at least one responsible adult, who will be informed that young people must not be left unsupervised during the event. And the most important for us we will organise this event complying with all local laws and regulations that apply to young attendees. So no worries from this side.
  • The topics we are interested in are wiki technology (including writing wikipedia and putting pictures on commons. our guests will learn how to make a basic bot, put audio for wiktionaries and many other things), with the academy we started teaching it several months ago, and we would like to have more students who will be tomorrow's leaders in the field of the wikimedia movement. in addition if we can have them as editor permanently it would be good.
  • All the proposed activities will be done and carried out by us. on the other hand, the academy will facilitate the legal side with the parents, because the academy is an institution which, like all schools, is under the supervision of the ministry of education. All rental costs and services offered are split between us and the academy. The event will be partially funded by the academy. This grant is our share of the costs, which does not include the academy fee.
  • Thank you for this information, because of the Covid we couldn't do a big event. but we will hope that our next event will be with a world without Covid.
  • The travel grant will only serve people coming from russia and therefore no international travel. we want to invite one speaker for the event. Warm regards --Erzianj jurnalist (talk) 09:50, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
