Hi L235. Thank you for this proposal. The plan looks great but we still need the missing details in the budget line items. Once you've added them we can approve. Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 19:07, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

@AWang (WMF): Thanks for the note, updated :) Kevin (aka L235 · t · c · enwiki) 08:29, 1 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@L235: Any update on the progress of this event? I haven't heard much about it, but let me know if you need help. Can't promise, but may be able to help out. Also, seems sensible to update the Bay Area mailing list once date & location are confirmed? Effeietsanders (talk) 12:42, 24 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Effeietsanders: Thanks for checking in! I'm working out final plans; however, I will be sure to update as soon as we have everything confirmed. It looks like things are leaning towards Tuesday, January 15, 2019, roughly 4:30pm-7:30pm at the Green Library (Tierney Seminar Room (121A)). It's confirmed that that space and time is open; I'll just need to confirm with the schedules of those who may be involved in organization. Thank you!! @Effeietsanders: I've updated the event page here: w:en:Wikipedia:Meetup/San Francisco/Stanford Wikipedia Day 2019. Thanks! Kevin (aka L235 · t · c · enwiki) 03:24, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I shared it a bit in my network, and we shared it in the Wikipedia Bay Area meetup group ([1]) - we're listed as organizers because someone has to be, but happy to add you. From your response I'm assuming that you don't need any help. Effeietsanders (talk) 03:42, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Day party expenses so far

edit

For transparency, the following are the reimbursable expenses for the Wikipedia Day party (not including use of printers, etc.):

  • Food: $258.72
  • Transportation: $11.34
  • Materials: $58.58
  • Total: $328.64

Preliminary metrics:
  • Registrations: 260 – I had to inform most registrants that the event was at capacity and they were unable to attend
  • Signed-in participants: 39 (though there were a lot I noticed who didn't manage to sign in)
  • New editors: ~5-15
  • Articles created or improved: 14, according to the outreach dashboard (given the nature of the meeting, I was surprised it was that many)

Also, @AWang (WMF): I only just noticed a $15 wire receiving fee that my bank charged me. Is that reimbursable? I understand that it wasn't in the original grant and so it may not be. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c · enwiki) 07:02, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi L235. Thank you for the updates! Yes, you can use unspent funds from the grant to cover the wire charges. In future grants it can be included in your budget. Best, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 16:43, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request to extend term of grant

edit

Hello! In order to add flexibility to the follow-up events, could we have an extension of the grant term to end-April 2019? Additionally, as discussed, we plan for one of the follow-ups to be Stella Yu's editathon. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c · enwiki) 00:32, 18 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, L235 thank you for submitting this request. Your new grant end date is April 30, 2019 and one of the follow-up events can be Stella Yu's editathon. As mentioned via email, please make sure that she collects receipts and that you include her activities in the final report. Please let us know if you have any questions. Best regards, LSmith (WMF) (talk) 16:58, 18 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Update on funds

edit

The report for this grant will be available in full soon, but I have submitted a $231.36 check for return to the Foundation and it should be arriving in the mail in the coming days. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c · enwiki) 09:29, 1 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
