Hello, Oby Ezeilo; thank you for your work on this grant request. We have the following questions:

  1. Why is this initiative being submitted as an individual grant request rather than as a group request from the Igbo Wikimedians User Group?
  2. What is the relationship between this grant request and the grant request for the Wiktionary edit-a-thons submitted by Igboanude? Bear in mind that we cannot fund multiple grant requests for the same initiative.

Considering that both requests are coming from the same group, we recommend that you work as a group to consolidate both into a single grant request. Regards, MMontes (WMF) (talk) 00:33, 6 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Let me firstly state that i am not Oby Ezeilo. I am Obidike but the short cut of the name is Obi with user name Obihoja. But i know Oby and have participated in her igbo Wiktionary Edit a Thon. i also know Igboanude who has also worked in the Oby's Igbo Wiktionary Edit a Thon

I applied as an individual for this project not knowing that Igboanude is also applying. i am not applying as a group as i do not belong to the Igbo User Group. My intention is to use this project to introduce wikimedia to civil servants working with the Federal Government of Nigeria and encourage them to volunteer while creating more words for the Igbo Wiktionary. However in doing this, i will still have invited other experienced Igbo editors to work in the project including Oby, Igboanude etc. i also believe that Igboanude would have invited me in her project.

if it is not allowed for two individual projects to be carried out in the Igbo Wiktionary at the same time, as it appears presently, then i will be happy to withdraw my application to enable Igboanude proceed with her project. ultimately the whole intention is to enrich content in the Igbo Wiktionary and to get more editors in this area which will still be achieved either way.

@Obihoja: Apologies the dates for this event have long passed as we were slow to respond to due limitations in our staffing. I will be putting this back into draft, as the scheduled dates have passed. If you would still like seek funding for the event through Rapid Grants, please adjust the dates for the event, and you can apply starting on Feb. 1st as the current month is reserved for proposals related to Art+Feminism. Please keep in mind we cannot fund events that have already taken place. If you do decide to resubmit this proposal with new dates, I would interested in hearing what specific impact Igbo Wiktionary has for your audience or local community. In the future, because the Igbo Wiktionary community is very small, I would request that you coordinate with other community members before submitting a proposal to see where you can work together on funding requests, rather than making multiple, individual requests. @I JethroBT (WMF): Thanks for your advice. I have resubmitted this proposal and made necessary changes in the dates. i have also discussed with many members of the Igbo community and we agreed that I represent this application. Consequently Igboanude is not sending another application this month like it happened last year. Indeed she and many other editors in the community will participate in this edit a thon. The Igbo Wiktionary is documenting Igbo words in the wiktionary. It is also documenting meanings of the words, pronunciations, links of same words in other languages etc. This is very helpful to Igbo people as it will be a reference point for the teaching and learning of Igbo language. It will also help millions of Igbo people who are in different parts of the world to teach their younger ones. This is why we are all struggling to continue improving Igbo wiktionary.

I applied for Igbo Wiktionary Edit a Thon as an individual not as a group because I intended to use the opportunity to bring in some of my colleagues to join and contribute in Wikimedia. I am a retired teacher. when I was teaching, I also though in Igbo Language. some of my colleagues and myself, as retirees, do have enough time to volunteer for the foundation. that is why I proposed this project. this is also why it is not a group project. however I also intended to use experienced editors from my Igbo Wikimedia User Group to plan, guide and join in the project.

this proposal is not sent by Oby Ezeilo. however I intend to user her and other members of the group in the project. I also just realized that Obihoja also proposed a project. while the two proposals appear to be on the same Igbo Wiktionary, I just realized that his targeted audience is difference from mine. I am happy that he also applied, which to me, shows that there is a lot of interest now in Igbo Wiktionary and with many of us contributing to its content, the Wiktionary will soon be released from incubation. I will be glad to work with Obihoja whether in my project or in his project as we both have the same goal --Igboanude (talk) 09:28, 7 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello MMontes, Let me state that the proposals are coming from two different individuals,Igboanude and Obihoja. while Igboanude a retiree, is a member of the Igbo Wikimedia User Group Obihoja a civil servant, is not a member. Considering that the two proposals will provide a good awareness avenue for the two social classes, the retirees and the federal civil servants, i believe that the two proposals could run hand in hand. It will also add more content Obihojain the wiktionary platform. --Oby Ezeilo (talk) 11:13, 7 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Oby Ezeilo: Thank you for these clarifications. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:54, 13 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

REQUEST TO EXTEND TIME FOR COMPLETION OF MY PROJECT AND ADJUST THE BUDGET edit

Good day DSaroyan (WMF), this project was approved and funded but i could not execute it due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the directive from the Foundation that no off line project should be executed. since this pandemic has refused to go, i now want to do this project online. this will mean that every of the participant will be working from his house or from one of the cybercafes that have met the Nigerian government Covid 19 rules. To do this, i will convert the $950 budget for space rental to cover the cost of renting space in cyber cafe for some participants and for paying for data for others who have laptops and can work from there houses or offices. This proposed new budget will be as follows: there will be 7 participants who will be working online. 4 of these participants will be working in a cybercafe while 3 will be working from home. For those working at the cybercafe the budget will be $155 x 4 = $620 while for those working from home the budget will be $110 x 3 = $330. This will bring the total to $950. In view of the delay, i will also be requesting that the time for completion of the project be extended to January 2021. i seek your approval please. Best Regards.--Obihoja (talk) 21:19, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
