Endorsment from Oby Ezeilo (talk) edit

This project is important because the target audience is the Senior citizens and the strategy chosen will achieve great results because they will be made to understand what they are supposed to do, how they are to do it and then a little exercise on what they were taught. This will contribute greatly to the Movement Strategy. One of the points to note is that these sets of people have a lot of free time so engaging them will yield tremendous result for the Movement. Furthermore, as one of the trainers, I will do my best to encourage them.

This project is a very thoughtful one and encourages inclusiveness. There are still able retirees in our communities who can still make impact to the society. I believe these project will make a large impact as these senior citizens will also come along with their vast knowledge base contributions.

I am touched by this proposal which targets senior citizens. I do support it because I agree with their arguement that there has not been programmes targeted at helping senior citizens to join and participate. there are other activities which focused on women, youths, LBTS etc. I think this group of people should also be accommodated. I am also like the competition side of the proposal as I think it will urget them to do more.

The project idea is an amazing one. It seem to capture a certain block that most of us seem not to pay attention to. I think many communities will benefit once this project is executed because nobody understands and speak the native languages and culture like the senior citizens and I honestly feel their impact will be felt. Plus they themselves will be happy being part of the movement as it might seem to give them some sense of purpose again. I 100% endorse this and I look forward to being part of this.

The Strategy and proposed activities for this proposal are sound and will likely cause it to be a success. Well-done.

Endorsment from Em-mustapha talk edit

I endorsed this project by grandma Igboanude, a dedicated Wikimedian who has been doing alot of good works in promoting Igbo language projects. The project's goal is clearly spell out and a good one to see, bringing senior citizens into Wikimedia movement activities will really add so much from the wealth of experience they have, especially the Igbo Wikis and other local language projects. The team too is well selected, Oby Ezeillo, Udehb and Chukydyk can really help make it a success. --Em-mustapha talk 12:01, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree with the principle of this proposal which is trying to get more retired workers to participate. As a civil servant who will retire in a few months, I will like to participate. I also believe that the proposed channel of getting and sustaining the retired workers will work.

Comments from the MEA regional funds staff edit

Dear Igboanude, thank you for submitting your grant application. We recognize the significance of the project and appreciate your willingness to work with senior citizens in Nigeria. We have a few questions and requests after reviewing your proposal:

  • Given that participants will be newcomers, do you think that focusing on 3 different Wikimedia projects will be efficient? I'm worried that participants will be confused. How would you mitigate this risk? Provide your response in question 3.
  • Given the project scope, please choose between prizes for top contributors and Wikipedia merchandise. Remove one of the expenses from your budget.
  • Reduce the Contingency costs to 100 USD maximum.
  • The training space rent prices are high. We request that you find an alternative and less expensive option. Another option is that you find a space that has computers / projectors and remove equipment rental expenses from your budget.
  • Update the total requested budget after the requested changes are made.

Please make the changes on Fluxx. Log in to the Grantee Portal and you will see your application in the 'Proposals need attention' section. Please edit and submit your application by June 25, 2022. Let us know if you have any questions. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:33, 16 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Response edit

  • The Participants will not be confused at all, We will be dealing with people from different fields with different understanding, interests, and capabilities. Some Wikidata will appeal to them, for others it may be Wikicommons or Wikipedia. I am hoping that one of the projects will appeal to them enough to make them want to continue contributing to Wiki. Furthermore, there is a seven-day gap between each training, this will give them time to internalize what they have learned before the next class.
  • I have removed the budget for prices for top contributors
  • I have also reduced the contingency cost to $100
  • I have found another cheaper venue and have reflected the change in the budget. However, I opted for the previous venue because it's accessible and a central area where people can locate easily. This present Venue that is cheaper is at the outskirt of the town.
  • I have updated and uploaded it. Best Regards.Igboanude (talk) 16:22, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
