Hi Winifred. The report is now complete. Should I change the status?--Thuvack (talk) 09:33, 12 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for completing the report, Thuvack! I'm happy to go ahead and change the status to "Under review" now. Cheers, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 16:13, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please clarify amounts remaining edit

You list 58,415.00 ZAR total granted from WMF, and 6,575.76 ZAR of WMF funds spent on this project. This yields a total underspend of 51,839 ZAR while you list an underspend of 42,900.24 in your report. Would you please clarify this difference? Thank you, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 00:15, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

That is correct, I must have made an error by including the amount that was paid by the Swiss Chapter. I have now corrected the remaining budget amount.--Thuvack (talk) 08:30, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for making that speedy correction, Thuvack. Cheers, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 18:21, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Feedback on Report edit

Thank you for submitting your report. We have a few questions and would appreciate your response.

1 To what extent has the Heritage Portal adopted Creative Commons licensing? AWang (WMF) (talk) 23:56, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have been corrected by James Ball that indeed the Heritage Portal has adopted CC license, but only partially and on selected articles. The site that has completely adopted CC Licensing is its sister site Blue Plaques SA. I am correcting the report on this.--Thuvack (talk) 09:53, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

2 What insight was received during the edit-a-thons regarding the female experience with Wikipedia in South Africa? AWang (WMF) (talk) 23:56, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

When we did the edit-a-thons, Visual editor was being deployed and we did not have the opportunity to expose them to this. Their experience was based on normal wiki markup. They did express concern that the Mark up language looked daunting, however once we showed them how to do simple edits they were satisfied. We believe Visual editor could reduce editing barrier and we will concentrate on this aspect at the next edit-a-thons.--Thuvack (talk) 09:53, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

3 Has the City of Johannesburg Mayoral Committee approved the Joburgpedia concept? What does this mean in practice? What follow-up is needed and by whom? AWang (WMF) (talk) 23:56, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

The concerpt has been approved. Currently Eric Itzkin (Director of Immovable Heritage department CoJ) is currently exploring possibility of funding future JoburgpediA events. They are seriously considering including a QRcode on their actual new Blue Plaques that they install nowards.--Thuvack (talk) 09:53, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

4 Has the City of Johannesburg approved the release of non-sensitive archives? If yes, what content is being released? Who will upload it? AWang (WMF) (talk) 23:56, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes the city has started releasing research work that they have done or commissioned on their plaques. They have for now excluded photographs as they are still studying the CC-License in order to determine whether to adopt it for specific releases. I have received a batch of 8 research papers out of the eleven plaques that we have done. I have updated inserts of these onto the JoburgpediA Wiki. These serves as soft redirects to wikipedia articles. I will next include the researched information onto the english wikipedia which will in turn be used as basis for translation efforts. I have been assured that more will come--Thuvack (talk) 09:53, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

A friendly reminder that Glamorous is a good tool for tracking how many images uploaded to Commons under a certain category are being used across Wikipedias. AWang (WMF) (talk) 23:56, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Alex. Thank you for your follow up questions. Please see my answers above.--Thuvack (talk) 09:53, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
