Activities edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. What will you and other organizers spend your time doing?

We have a 3-member team who will coordinate the 2-Day Hybrid workshop. Among the team is an expert in Environment, Climate Justice and Biodiversity who will be providing support in the planning and will also help frame the topics to be discussed during the workshop.

The inperson workshop will have a moderated panel discussion and breakout sesions and the audience will include youth voices as well, to document their stories and experiences at the community level. The workshop will also be live streamed on Facebook and Youtube to help reach a wider audience and amplify the campaign.

The second day of the workshop will be a virtual event that will focus on introducing participants to Wikipedia projects and showing them the basics of how to; it will be also moderated and will include afew testimonials from members of the Wikimedia Community User Group Kenya on their experiences in the Wikisphere so far.

How will you let others in your community know about your project (please provide links to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions)? Why are you targeting a specific audience?

We have updated the event of the WikiForHumanRights events and activities section on meta. We have also highlighted the event in the "upcoming events" section in the Wikimedia Community UG Kenya Meta page. We will also be posting on social media platforms; telegram and whatsApp, twitter and facebook.

What will you have done at the end of your project? How will you follow-up with people that are involved with your project?

By the end of the workshop, we would have identified content gaps on the thematic areas, recruited new wikipedia editors and increased advocasy on the right to a healthy environment. We will aalso be monitoring social media engagement.

Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
