Project Goal edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- It will be a multi-day edit-a-thon from 2 to 10 August 2019 in the small village Kötschach-Mauthen in the Austrian mountains. This is a follow-up project to previous Wikipedia for Peace camps in Austria, e.g. Wikipedia for Peace Jenbach 2017, which also focused on female biographies. Some of the participants will be recurring participants from the previous years, some are experienced Wiki contributors, but most will be new participants from underrepresented groups (women, queer people, young people) who are interested in feminism and who have not edited before and who will get a fun and intense introduction to Wikipedia through this summer camp. The project will also include workshops on feminism and gender equality as part of a "Learning Hike", with workshops on different stations along a hiking route close to our venue.
2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
- We have announced the camp in Wikipedias of several languages (e.g. de:Wikipedia_Diskussion:WikiProjekt_Frauen#"Wikipedia_for_Peace"-Camp_zu_Frauenbiographien_von_2.-10._August), on social media channels of Wikimedia Austria and other involved organisations (Wikimedia Armenia, SCI Germany, SCI Madrid, SCI Catalunya). Youth centers all across Austria have promoted the camp for Austrian participants. During the camp itself, we will have an outreach workshop with locals in Kötschach-Mauthen.
3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?
- Yes, User:Shikeishu and User:DaddyCell are facilitating the project. They have organized camps like this several times before and have many years of Wiki experience.
4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Several participants have. Those who do not will be supported with introductory workshops (e.g. on editing, free licenses, neutrality, relevance, etc.), The Wikipedia Adventure and 1on1 support throughout the whole project.
5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- Through follow-up workshops in the Wikipedia for Peace edit-a-thon series, e.g. around Europride in 2020 or other camps that participants can participate in in the upcoming months and years. On 9 August, there will be a session to introduce to participants how they can get more active in Wikimedia, e.g. through their local chapter, through local meetups, international user groups and conferences as well as by organising own community projects.
6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- The event will follow Wikimedia Austria's friendly-space policy.
- We are aware that this grant request is very late. We thought we could cover the costs through the other funding, but were not aware that the costs would be more. We hope that this grant request can still be looked at.

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:
- Number of participants: 20
- Number of new editors: 10
- Number of of articles created or improved: 120+ new articles (similar to previous projects)
- Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events): 6
Resources edit
What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).
- Wikimedia Austria will support the event through administrative support. Food and accommodation as well as travel and visa costs of all participants are covered through an Erasmus+ grant by the European Commission (more specifically, the Austrian National Agency for Erasmus+) that was requested in February 2019 and granted in May 2019.
What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.
- Unfortunately, we had delays in booking travels for our 5 Armenian participants and now we realized that the budget that we need additional income to cover other costs in the program. The costs covered through the Rapid Grant would give us more room and flexibility to cover materials (e.g. paper, pens), food and free time activities (e.g. entries to museums and to sports facilities for our "Learning Hike" on Day 4).
