Due to the huge success of Wikidata Introduction to Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa State project. This is an on-demand project by the Nigeria Association of Computer Science Students (NACOS) of both institutions aimed at introducing the Wikimedia movement particularly wikidata to members of (NACOS) State Polytechnic and Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa State Chapter.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Series of training
  1. 2-day event in State Polytechnic Nasarawa.
  2. 2-day event in Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

  • Hausa Wikimedian User Group are well informed about the project.
  • Both institution have been informed about the project and are excited about it.


3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

  1. They association has assured me that the students will know about the edit-a-thon project via all institution news outlet (Radio stations, social media platforms, boards etc.)
  2. I will also do a physical meet up(campaign) with the members of the association to tell them more about the event.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:I JethroBT

  1. Udehb founder Ig_Wikidata_Hub an experience wiki editor and has coordinated and executed a lot of wiki project successfully.
  2. JosefAnthony an experience wikidata editor and trainer.
  3. Gwanki One of the admins Hausa Wikimedian User Group an has conducted so many successful project.


5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

  • Participants have laptops and phone to participate in the edit-a-thon

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

  • Whatsapp and Telegram platform will be created in the course of the project to actively engage participants.
  • Participants will also be added to all the relevant wiki groups organizers are actively on for mentorship

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

  • This project will further create a better Wikimedia experience within the whole high institutions in Nasarawa state and bringing more active editors into the movement.
  • This will also lead to creation of Wikimedia Fan clubs in the institutions
  • This project will bring about more wiki related activities and collaborations between the institutions

Impact edit

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events = 4 (2 event in each institution)
  2. Number of participants = 60 (30 students per school)
  3. Number of new editors = 30+
  4. Number of of items created or improved = 150+
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events) = -10
