Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
Number of Events (7) | Number of Events (7) | The targeted number of events where achieved even though time extension was sought and obtained. |
Number of Participants (7) | Number of Participants (4) | The targeted number of participants with built editing knowledge was estimated to be 7 but not all where available at all the events. We had an average of 4 at each given time. |
Number of new editors (23) | Number of new editors (45) | We far exceeded the number of new editors targeted for the edit-a-thon. |
Number of of articles created or improved (100) | Number of of articles created or improved (100+) | We have an estimated number of 100+ resulting from the series of the edit-a-thon. |
Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events): 15 | Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events): 5 | We have an estimated number of 5 repeat participants in the course of the series of the edit-a-thon. This low delivery is assumed to result from the fact that there were staggered participation across the event days with individuals having varying commitment levels. |
Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- The social media campaign to source editors was super successful
- Event targets largely reached
- A first community of Igbo language editors that has now become the founding members of the Igbo Wikimedians User Group which has recently been approved by the Affiliations Committee.
- What did not work so well?
- IP Limitations was a huge challenge at the earlier stages and the below suggestions was offered courtesy of Spiritia. Alex Wang (WMF) also pointed me to Learning patterns/Six-account limit and subsequent events were sorted out.
- Communication prior to the event was vague and resulted in men assuming that it was a women only event.
- What would you do differently next time?
- Clear and concise communication for subsequent events.
- Attendee testimonials from all gender to communicate that the event is not limited to just women.
- Participants will be encouraged to create their Wiki accounts before the event date using their personal data access.

Anything else
editI am personally excited at the immense possibilities that the project has unveiled and will yet unveil with the birthing of the Igbo Wikimedians User Group which has recently been approved by the Affiliations Committee.
