Resources edit

This section is optional. It may be used to highlight the potential grantee's potential for successfully executing this project.

Consider including the following information:

  • List of team members (names or usernames):Caleidoscopic, alhen
  • Onwiki evidence of community support (such as a project about this discussion): We are part of the proposed Wikimedians of Bolivia User Group.
  • Endorsements from community members or movement groups:
  • Special skills or qualifications this potential grantee or project lead brings to this project: I'm a wikipedian since 2005 and have worked in many projects. We have left this matter of the Grant for WLM 2013 unclosed for way too long. I feel personally responsable for it and want to make up for it with this activity. Olga and I believe we can deliver a finely organized activity since we've been working on Wikipedia related activities for quite some time, but without asking financing from the WMF.
  • Evidence of past success in executing similar projects: This is a very novel and innovative event from our point of view and can be replicated as an event by other Wikimedia Chapters.
  • We have an agreement with a graphic design company to get the design for the banners.
  • Website will be designed and mantained by volunteers as well.
Total cost of project

$ 555(including design, website)

Total amount requested from the WMF Grants Program

$ 512

Additional sources of revenue that may fund part of this project, and amounts funded
  • We may receive help for advertizing the contest and it will be reflected on our final report
  • We will pay for the coffee, but the company has agreed to provide for more if needed.
  • Support from Wikipedians to provide help for new users is expected.

Impact edit

In the sections below, please describe how the project is related to the Wikimedia mission and Wikimedia's strategic priorities.

Fit to strategy edit

How will this project support the key organizational objectives of
  • increasing reach (more people will access or contribute to Wikipedia or our other projects),
Participants will find pleasurable ways to engage on Wikipedia editing.
  • participation (more people actually contributing),

We will allow people to participate online with a cup of coffee in their houses to be part of this activity. Hopefully they will get back at editing when drinking good coffee.

  • quality (more content, more useful content, or higher-quality content),

We are working to get people from literary circles to join us. We also appealing to all who have small libraries at their houses to share their knowledge about Bolivia with the world. Plus, a contact from History Bolivian Academy has agreed to make one of the sessions in his house already. We are seeking support from other local scientists to become hosts for this activity.

  • credibility (more trust in our projects),

Reaching out to the scientify circles will also give us the chance to advertise future projects related to editing for professors.

  • organizational maturity and effectiveness (how it will move you or the Wikimedia community forward),

We want to relaunch the Wikimedians of Bolivia to close this grant. We believe that, because of our activities more institutions are willing to work with us. We have already settled a monthly Wikipedia activity at the Cultural Center from Spain. We also have engaged in conversations with the French Embassy to coordinate Wiki Loves Monuments this year, and other minor activities. We believe that this activity is key to get recognized by the WMF as a User group. We want to get on with bigger and more important activities.

This statement should address at least one of the strategic priorities listed here specifically. See WMF Grants Program criteria for decisionmaking.
The project will enable people who have small libraries at home to use those references in articles for articles related to Bolivia. Often those books were edited in very little numbers and have no ISBN. We want to reach those.

Benefits edit

If the project will benefit a specific online community, please tell us.
We have secured and agreement with AGETIC, the governmental agency for e-government to support us for the opening of this event.
Please provide a brief statement about how the project is related to other work in the Wikimedia movement. For example, does the project fit into a work area such as GLAM, education, organizational development, editor retention, or outreach?
We are contacting all users who participated in previous editions of Wikipedia events so they can be part of the activity even if only online.
If successful, will the project have the potential to be replicated successfully by other individuals, groups, or organizations? Please explain how in 1–2 sentences.
We believe Wikipedia + coffee is a very innovative way to reach those people who are not usually part of editatons, or are online. We also want to reach those little libraries that books that were never published massively.
Please list other benefits to the movement here.
This may be a small activity, but it has the potentia to be replicated. By sharing the idea with some libraries, they have agreed to meet us this and the coming week to see if we can get their readers to write. We are all very excited.

Endorsements edit

  • Thanks for the project and good luck in the project! My support ProtoplasmaKid (WM-MX) (talk) 16:57, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Todo el apoyo, que alegría que nuestra comunidad esté activa, ahí estaremos retomando ritmo. Jduranboger (talk) 17:51, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Coffee is the fuel which powers the editing of Wikimedia projects and the conversation which develops the infrastructure. I am a huge fan of using Wikimedia funds to sponsor meetings in coffeehouses. When people have snacks and coffee then Wikimedia community meetings work very well. One point - can you confirm that this grant comes with the support of Wikimedistas de Bolivia? I see this organization named but it is not clear to me that this proposal is with that organization. If it is, then very good, and if not, I still could support the grant with some clarification about who manages it. Blue Rasberry (talk) 20:53, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the support! Olga and I have been working in Bolivia for the organization but haven't gotten around to send our application. We are trying to organize this and other activities to get it going! alhen Did you call, sir? 23:59, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
