Between 2016 and 2017 Wikimedia Sverige and Cultural Heritage without Borders worked on compiling data on what datasets of built cultural heritage exists in the world. We targeted a selected few countries as part of the initial project. The initial selection was made based on whether Cultural Heritage without Borders had contacts, or whether the country has a lot of cultural heritage in danger according to the World Monuments Fund World Monuments Watch list and the UNESCO World Heritage sites in danger list. We also added a few other countries that seem to be great possibilities thanks to our extended network. We were using the following methodology to select which countries to focus on: Connected Open Heritage/Country selection criteria.
In 2021 work continues with data being added from the Wiki Loves Monuments database to Wikidata. These efforts are done as part of the Strategic data uploads by the Content Partnerships Hub.

- ↑ According to our definition and assessment in Connected Open Heritage/Country selection criteria.
- ↑ I.e. Chapter, Thematic Organization, User group.
- ↑ Organizing WLM is not part of the project, but it is central for use of the datasets. This take into consideration if we know the Wikimedia organization is planing something and also the legal situation (i.e. FoP).
