Romaine will set up the banner. The traffic of the banner will be limited to maximum of 5 shows per visitor. Romaine (talk) 05:13, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Romaine: is this meant to run for five months? That is extremely long. Even with limiting impressions per user thats an excessively long campaign. Would you be intending to run the campaign at a lower traffic percentage? Seddon (WMF) (talk) 12:21, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- The photo contest runs for a long time (not my decision). I intend to have maximum of 5 shows per visitor, as that would mean anyone can learn about the contest and after that they do not see the banner any more. Romaine (talk) 13:53, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- Given that people often use at least three devices (work pc, home pc, a phone), sometimes more, the number of shows per person would actually be bigger. Would it be possible to limit it by the traffic %? I personally think that low impression diet plus low traffic percentage, e.g. 10% is good enough to make a several months banner campaign bearable, but we must understand that this is still strictly speaking a violation of banner usage guidelines and is just a smaller evil comparing to other ways to put a banner like SiteNotice is. Another option I see is to put traffic even lower for most of the campaign, e.g. 5% or so, but provide several time spans of like 3 days each of high traffic percentage synchronised in time with usage of other means of communication, e.g. Facebook ads, posts by from the Flemish government media resources, TV interview broadcasts, etc. --Base (talk) 23:13, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- Or alternatively running higher one week stints through out the period? Run for a week at like 50%. Bring down for a week and repeat? Seddon (WMF) (talk) 11:27, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
