Discussion edit

If creating awareness campaign to help readers/visitors to know they can read, learn and contribute to Wikipedia in their mother tongues would lead to increase more volunteerism and improve content creations, I feel it is a welcome initiative. Let's give it a short and see how it works. CheersAgbalagba TC 10:33, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I support that this project be given a central notice banner. Ruby D-Brown (talk) 12:27, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is an awesome idea,I will be glad to be part it. Zend2020 (talk) 06:09, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The potency of this idea in fostering more contributions and expanding development of Wikipedia is inherently apparent in its presentation. It therefore worths being supported. Osenibabalola0 (talk) 22:18, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Central Notice admin comments edit

Hi T Cells and others, I have been working on this banner the past hour, but I cannot seem to fit the three different links into one CN banner... I have asked another admin and am waiting for assistance, but considering that one click will lead people away from the central notice banner, that one link they click needs to be the right one. Having three links in one banner might be overdoing it, and confusing as well.
So imho it would be worth considering...

  • To have one landing page, I would propose on the Yoruba Wikipedia - so people immediately see what the training would be for. You wish to only target anonymous=new users; they should not end up (getting lost on) Meta.
  • On that landing page have the sign up link for the training.

If yes, I can have the banner turn on tomorrow: if no, the campaign will have to wait until another CN Admin has time. Ciell (talk) 17:02, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And is it Yorùbà, Yorùbá, or Yoruba? All three are used in the banner text above, is this correct? Ciell (talk) 17:05, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ciell: thank you for your time. this is the link we want to have on the CN. Directing them to Meta or any other page may confuse them as we are targeting people who have no idea about pages on any Wikimedia project. The Meta page is only for documentation purposes. Thank you. T CellsTalk 18:01, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Great thanks. Per our TG conversation, this is the banner preview. Please check and let me know if I can turn it on like this. Ciell (talk) 18:23, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This is perfect, Ciell. Thank you for your help. T CellsTalk 18:55, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome! Ciell (talk) 19:03, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Banner is turned on, and will show 6 times per 5 days. Please do realize there is also an English language fundraising banner active, which always takes priority over the other banners. This banner will be shown less in the second half of December, so don't be alarmed when your banner might be less visible in the first half of this month. Ciell (talk) 11:35, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Ciell. This is fine. In fact, we are likely to turn off the banner earlier than second half of December. It looks like we we meet our target earlier than expected. T CellsTalk 11:52, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What, there is so much engagement already?! That is wonderful! Ciell (talk) 12:12, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
amazing engagement.😊T CellsTalk 12:39, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Ciell. T CellsTalk 11:09, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for leading this initiative this year Agbalagba. Ciell hasn't edited here since January 22. They are probably busy at this time. You can ping any other CN admin. It looks like @DerHexer: is active, perhaps they could help with your request. T CellsTalk 11:54, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please submit a new request. Thank you, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:14, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Done, @User:DerHexer, See CentralNotice/Request/Recruit readers as writers. Thank you. Agbalagba TC 11:05, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
