Workshops with teachers edit

In February Wikimedia Armenia made an arrangement with Media Education Center (under the Ministry of Education) to receive and train teachers of informatics and Armenian language from 150 primary schools of Yerevan. The first phase of workshops started on February 17th. Every day during 3 weeks, there was a workshop in WM AM office, where about 20 teachers was learning editing basics, general things about copyright and wiki movement around the world. They also were introduced to Wikipedia Education program and familiarized themselves with the experience WM AM had. The teachers' team was led by Haykaz Baghyan, who is the founder and director at Media Education Center. There were 15 workshops organized, which had 300 teacher participants.

Wikimedia Armenia started Wikipedia Education program in AYB school in October 2013. The first phase of education program was finished on 9th of December, when Wikimedia Armenia volunteers awarded the most active high school editors with certificates and wiki T-shirts.

The second phase was launched on December 9th, 2013 and finished on January 31th, 2014. Again the students were encouraged to write their first articles based on the Armenian Encyclopedia but experienced ones should try to create or/and translate articles by their own using Wikipedias and other sources[1]. To help participants, students were divided into three teams. It was planned to create 300 articles during the second phase of the project - each team should create at least 100 article. Teams created 799 articles in sum, the planned goal was achieved. After the project end till the creation of results summary of results additional 2 articles were created. Thus, 801 articles were created during the second phase of AYB Wikipedia Education Program. Second phase had 23 participants. (See the archive of Education Programhy)

Evrika school in Wikipedia Education program edit

To increase the coverage of Wikipedia Education Program in Armenia, education program leaders decided to include also schools from the regions of Armenia. The first school was Evrika high school which is situated in Vanadzor, Lori region. Evrika is one of the best phys-math schools in Lori region and Armenia. Susanna Mkrtchyan, Lilit Tarkhanyan and Dato Abuladze led the workshop, 30 high school students participated.

During the workshops stuents tried to edit in Wikipedia first time and create their first articles. Some of this students were later chosen to participate in Wiki Camp.
