Welcome to the Wiki Loves Lagos Wikipedia writing challenge to improve the coverage of Lagos on Wikipedia!

What: This is a public writing challenge to create new articles for the visibility of Lagos and improve existing articles about Lagos on Wikipedia. The aim is to bridge the content gap about Lagos on Wikipedia, the world's largest online encyclopedia. The Contest is organized as part of the global Tourism day in partnership with IGA Nigeria Limited.

Launch (Webinar training session): Date: 9th of September 2022 Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM WAT

Contest: Entry starts: 9th to 23rd of September 2022

Physical launch and training session: Date: 10th and 11th of September 2022 at Badagry.

Physical activation: Date: 17th and 18th of September 2022 at Lagos Island.

Who can participate?: We welcome all Wikipedia editors from Nigeria to join this contest and you can contribute in any Nigerian language of your choice including English. To participate you just need to sign up on the participants section.

Scoring: The contest is simple in structure, based on a KISS point system: You get points while improving articles, with the goal for each participant to gain as many points as possible.

Why participate: There is a huge content gap about Lagos on the internet and Wikipedia. We want to change the narrative by showcasing the beauty of Lagos as a city of the first with several cultural values. The contest is organized by Wikimedia Nigeria in partnership with IGA Nigeria Limited and Lagos state Government.
