Wiki Loves Africa 2017/Communications elements

This page documents the key Communications elements for Wiki Loves Africa 2017

Link : c:Category:Wiki Loves Africa 2017 marketing material

Wiki Loves Africa's communications elements fall into two categories:

  • Generic
  • Theme dependent.

User:Islahaddow is working on these elements, please contact her directly if you want to be involved and can help!

Generic elements edit

The Wiki Loves Africa generic elements include:

  • the existing visual identity
  • a “pitch deck” explaining the project
  • a generic leaflet about the project
  • Fun, simple stamps for project events
  • Pull-up banner
  • T-shirt
  • Buttons, badges, stickers (square, round and rectangular)
  • “App button” version of the logo for use on web, devices and other pages
  • Logo as used in press releases, social media, presentations, on banners, etc.
This list is unclear to me. It seems to imply that those exist. But some do exist (such as the tee shirt or the app button) whilst others do not exist (such as the generic leaflet). Can you perhaps clarify what do exist and what does not exist. And also links to specific items on Commons or dropbox when they exist. I think it could help see what needs to be done. Dear xx

Thank you for your contribution to Wiki Loves Africa 2017!! The project is a celebration of the visual diversity of Africa on Wikipedia and its sister projects. There are several fun ways you can help us to make the impact of Wiki Loves Africa stronger:

  • Add more categories to your images so that people will find them to use them in articles ... you can see how to do this here: Quick Guide to Categories on Commons
  • Add your image to a relevant article, i.e. if your image shows a tailor sewing, then add the image to an article on Sewing or Tailors - this allows readers to see different global perspectives of a universal subject. You can see how to do this here: How to insert images into Wikipedia using WikiText
  • If there is no article that reflects the subject of your images, then start an article about that subject. You can see how to do that here: Creating your first article
  • Add more images - now you are registered on Wikimedia projects, you can add more images or media that reflect interesting and encyclopedic subjects in your immediate community. These don't have to fit in with the Wiki Loves Africa theme, but more images mean more chances of winning ;-)!
  • Become involved in your local Wikimedia community groups - it is a lot of fun, and is important! Find them here: Wikimedia groups across Africa

We look forward to seeing your contributions!! warmest,

The Wiki Loves Africa Team
