How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region?

The Africa Knowledge Initiative is geared towards diversifying the content on the digital space about Africa through the three African Union holiday campaigns of Africa Youth Day, Africa Environment Day and Africa Day. Since the theme of the 2023 WikiIndaba Conference is “Tweeza: Empowering Africa through Knowledge-sharing and Collaboration”, the Africa Knowledge Initiative is in the business of sharing knowledge about Africa and Africans while leveraging the Wikimedia platforms. This session will also share knowledge about how to plan and execute pan-African campaigns, especially around topics of impact like Climate change. The Africa Knowledge Initiative at each level promotes collaboration. The project itself is a collaboration that exists between the African Union, the Wikimedia Foundation and Africa No Filter. The Africa Knowledge Initiative also promotes the idea of collaboration by tactically pairing Implementing partners for two campaign rounds in the following order:

It further drives collaboration by having all the implementing partners select local organizers across Africa to locally execute the campaign. By virtue of having AfroCROWD and Wikimedia Haiti as part of the local organizers, the Africa Knowledge Initiative through the Africa Youth Day 2022 campaign by The WikiVibrance in collaboration with Wikimedia Botswana, has shown diversity in collaboration too.
