OctraBot in Basque Wiktionary edit

Hello Octahedron!

We would be pleased if you would ask for the bot flag on eu.wiktionary for your eu:wikt:Lankide:OctraBot, as it is editing without errors in his job of refreshing the interwikis of our Wiktionary. If you are asked to start a request apply on our wiki, it should be done here. By the way, thank you very much for all the help and job done here and there!--Bengoa (My user talk) 12:00, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

fr.wiktionary edit

Hello,

Could you please consider posting a request for bot status on wikt:fr:Wiktionnaire:Bots/Statut? This would prevent patrollers from marking as read all your bot's contributions. Thanks, — Automatik (talk) 13:40, 16 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I already post the request. Thanks for remind me. --Octahedron80 (talk) 13:58, 16 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Botflag on da.wiktionary edit

If wikt:Bruger:OctraBot should continue working on da.wiktionary please consider to request a botflag. It is done on first da:wikt:Wiktionary:Administratorer#Robotter and then on Steward requests/Bot status since da.wiktionary has no bureaucrats so a steward should be requested to grant the flag.

@Sarrus: I stop running bot to cleanup interwiki links for now because the Cognate extension takes place today. Until my bot is able to remove unneeded iw links under main namespace, I will go get the bot flag. --Octahedron80 (talk) 16:34, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Sarrus: Looks like Dipsacus fullonum bot already takes the job. My bot is no longer needed there.--Octahedron80 (talk) 00:16, 3 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

OctraBot@pl.wiktionary edit

Hi, I'm a sysop from plwiktionary. Regarding the recent deploy of mw:Extension:Cognate, I'd like to ask you to disable -as soon as possible- OctraBot's interwiki patrolling in the main namespace of pl.wiktionary. We expect another bot operator to take over the task of deleting current language links from all our articles. Kind regards, Peter Bowman (talk) 16:25, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Peter Bowman: Thanks for noticement. I am researching how to remove unneeded iw links and then I will run bot again later. --Octahedron80 (talk) 16:42, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
You may want to coordinate with User:Hydriz, see wikt:simple:User talk:Hydriz#HydrizBot and the new Mediawiki-extension Cognate. Please remember that the language links layout at pl.wiktionary is quite special, for this reason I've tested his script and it seems to be giving good results. Peter Bowman (talk) 16:51, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hydriz's script works for me too. Then I can continue its task. Octahedron80 (talk) 18:15, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your bot is doing a great work, thanks :). Would you mind running it on eswiktionary, too? Peter Bowman (talk) 19:39, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Let me do in queue, unless someone runs before me. Looks like Hydriz already takes the job. --Octahedron80 (talk) 23:56, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

bot is wikt edit

hi, thanks for your work, please can you make your bot not make such edits. thanks in advance, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 18:36, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Spacebirdy: Wiktionaries do not need manual interwiki links on mainspace right now because the Cognate extension already matches the same title across Wiktionaries. --Octahedron80 (talk) 06:56, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oh, cool, thanks! i did not notice 0:) --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:30, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please slow down your bot's editing interval edit

Your bot is now violated to global bot's editing interval at Japanese Wiktionary. Please follow the global bot policy about of editing interval. --rxy (talk) 05:36, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your bot is now blocked for 1 day at Japanese Wiktionary for above.--rxy (talk) 05:41, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rxy: Sorry for that. When I requested bot flag here, there was not that rule and I could run at unlimitted speed. No one here notifies me. --Octahedron80 (talk) 05:46, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rxy: By the way, I don't understand what is the "busiest hour". That time happens every hour around the world. I live in the other side of the world, so our "busiest hour" will not be the same. --Octahedron80 (talk) 05:52, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
No, I think you are misunderstanding a bot policies. Current editing interval threshold is defined in the first revision . Also the local bot policy is referenced to the global policy. btw, I think you don't need to considering what about of "busiest hours" unless you are understand of s3 server cluster's writing status (replag). --rxy (talk) 06:18, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rxy: So I will set maxlag next time. --Octahedron80 (talk) 07:08, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Rxy: I know you care about jawikt, but the guidelines are really not the policy; I see "should" around paragraphes (not "must"). I can adjust throttle rate less than suggestion for efficiency, for example, on low-traffic wiki having 100k+ page; I could finish my job in some minutes rather than weeks or months. Clearing old IW link is such a safe job I have done on many Wiktionaries. --Octahedron80 (talk) 16:32, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I think your explain is not appropriate for violate the guideline. Of course, "should" is not "must", but if you want to ignore a guidelines, you should be explain and get concensus for local community. You did that? Also I think it seems this case is not 'urgency task' . Why you must be ignored to that guidelines? I think no reason for ignore that guidelines for routine task. if you only has reasons for own self, I can blocking you by my privately reasons (I don't do that).--rxy (talk) 22:09, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
