Translation requests/Wikimedia office signs/vi

Hey Mxn. I was trying to find some way to translate the current CentralNotice banner currently on almost every wiki right about now, when I stumbled on this page that was still linked from this page as a currently open request for translation, even though it looks like from the parent page's history Nemo_bis had closed it since 2011. Since you are the only contributor to that page, I thought I'd ask what you want to do with it. Cheers, TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 09:04, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

If you're not too busy, could you also do a quick review for the translations of DevilDoremon (logs, global contribs) and SweetNestHome? Especially concerning were the former's translations which don't appear to be translations at all. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 18:21, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your help again! Say, you know the code used on the Vietnamese Wikipedia to allow me to type the characters with diacritics? I discovered it when I was typing Special:ListGroupRights into the search bar and was surprised to find Special:LítGroupRights instead. Did you come up with the code for that by yourself? I think it'd be great if you could also import into the Vietnamese Wikivoyage. Unfortunately the Special:ListAdmins report there seemed to show no sign of sysop activity, so I could not contact anyone else to do it. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 09:09, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Minified CSS?

Tell us about Vietnamese Wikipedia

I've copied your fantastically insightful post in this page. How many machine-translated articles were there, do you think it may be yet another machine translation organised effort by Google or something? If you have big problems with such people, maybe it would be worth pioneering mw:Content translation on to have them use a semi-disciplined tool rather than the wild west. --Nemo 10:35, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

See User talk:Nemo bis.
Ok. Sometimes Google did actively promote pushing GTT articles in some wikis, that's why I ask. From your explanation however I understand it mostly has to do with the difficulties of the language itself. --Nemo 06:59, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitions

The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.

If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on

I'm notifying you because you participated in one of several relevant discussions. -Pete F (talk) 22:15, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Superprotect status

Dear Mxn, since you are an administrator on a wiki from which no user participated in this discussion, I'd like to make sure you are aware of some recent events which may alter what the Wikimedia Foundation lets you do on your wiki: Superprotect.

Portal CSS2 compatibility

In order for the and other portals to work with older browsers, can the CSS be changed from

	background:url(// center center/200px auto no-repeat;

	background:url(// center no-repeat;

? I didn't notice any difference in two browsers I tested it in, except that the current code breaks the logo on Safari 5. PiRSquared17 (talk) 18:08, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

See User talk:PiRSquared17.

Valid portal HTML

In order to make the portal HTML valid (according to, but complains about the "yue" language tag, which should probably be valid anyway), I made a few edits. Are they OK? PiRSquared17 (talk) 04:26, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
