Signatures on Response to 2017 ban in Turkey/Sig

edit

Hi Miloo.amila. Welcome to Meta Wiki. How is it going?

I just wanted to ask if you could provide a little more information about why some other users' signatures were removed from the page, such as like this. If this was by mistake, that is OK, just let us know that it was by replying below. Cheers, Seb26 (talk) 17:29, 19 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

More directly. Please do not amend other people's contributions.  — billinghurst sDrewth 03:14, 20 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

In response to en:User talk:Seb26#Sorry: Hi Miloo, that is OK, thank you for letting me know. It is not entirely your fault that it happened, that page was receiving a large number of edits at the same time from multiple users. It is a case of an edit conflict. But if you wish, there is a button called "Show changes" (Show changes) that will show you exactly what your changes to the page were before you save. As a bit of a proofreading/checking technique. Hi again Miloo. The previous signatures are still maintained in the edit history of the page, so they can eventually be extracted and put back on the page within the appropriate date section. However, it is a complex thing to do, so in your case as a new editor to Wikimedia projects, it would be easier for you if you considered not editing the page any further. As I mentioned, it is very difficult to edit a page that is rapidly being changed by others (in the case of this specific wiki we are on, Meta-Wiki, it is generally unheard of that 269 different people would edit a single page in a day alone.) So trust that in good time someone more experienced will restore them for you. As I said, it is a bit of bad luck/an accident so don't think anything is personal. Cheers =) Seb26 (talk) 12:21, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
