Tagging user pages for deletion
editHi, I have a question for you. I tried to tag a Meta user page for deletion, but was blocked by the abuse filter, while you were able to tag it. Is there a specific number of edits or user right required to edit others' user pages? Kk.urban (talk) 03:14, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- I haven't heard about any edit count borderline for such edit filters. On the other hand, I have autopatrol permissions at local (Meta-Wiki) and global rollback permissions at global level, these will lead to some kind of immunity against edit filters. In general, many Wikimedia projects have edit filters about user page edits. If you wanted to tag userpages for deletion but failed, then you can report such cases to admins, at Meta-Wiki this can be done at WM:RFH, I hope this can help you. - Ok, thanks! Kk.urban (talk) 04:52, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Another machine-translation spammer
editHi! Thanks for all the good work you've done at the Northern Saami Wikipedia; I really appreciate it! If you have time to look at another user who is going around spamming multiple wikipedias with machine-translated "articles", something should be done about the mess F1fans is leaving behind on Formula 1 related-topics (also on "articles" not about Michael Schumacher). - Yupik (talk) 15:23, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, Special:CentralAuth/F1fans suggests that this is better than an xwiki-spam-only account that I see almost every day. They seem to be trusted at some wikis, and there are no effective ongoing blocks. Therefore, I don't think they fit for global locks. In general, some wikis have anti-machine translation policies or guidelines (for example, simplewiki includes such policies via w:simple:WP:AQD), but others don't. In general, different projects have different policies about machine translations, and different countries will have different copyright rules, so I don't know if all of their creations are eligible for deletion based on each local policy. I agree that something should be done about the mess, but fixing translations can only be done by native-level speakers in each project, which is beyond my activity. If Northern Saami Wikipedia has already adopted hard rules against machine translations (and/or violates copyright rules that govern the Northern Saami Wikipedia), then I think they can be enforced by their admins (as long as the community allows). Hi! I see your name all over the wikis. If you want you could perhaps also check unused files when you are on a wiki. If they are non-free or have no license they should be deleted. --MGA73 (talk) 06:24, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback and suggestion, but I don't think I would be able to help here, I'm not familiar to file deletion procedures and most of the projects that I'm active (except Commons) don't have local file uploads. MathXplore (talk) 06:32, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thats okay. I just thought I would take the chance :-D Many smaller projects do not have local uploads but they have old files uploaded many years ago. One example is wikt:fa:پرونده:Google translator.jpg. I usually just add a delete + reason and post a request on Global sysop. --MGA73 (talk) 07:06, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
