About me
I have been a volunteer with Wikimedia since 2014 on Wiki Africa's Kumusha Takes Wiki project, supporting the Wikipedian in Residence to activate Wikipedia and OpenStreetMap Communities in Uganda. I have held other short term volunteer roles as team lead and project Manager on the annual one-month wiki Loves Africa contests in 2015 and 2016. Am one of the co-founders of the Wikimedia Community Usergroup in Uganda, which was officially recognised by AffCom in 2018
I have a passion in sports - soccer, and "private initiatives, for the public good, focusing on quality of life", philanthropy. My volunteer username is Douglaseru (in my personal opinion), the Wikimedia movement combines principles of openness and transparency within the other open communities, which is one of my passions, and drivers in my work.
My work
Together with the Information and Knowledge Management Team, i support the dissemination of information and knowledge between the Working Groups, Core Team and the wider movement, synthesize input that is gathered throughout the process, support sense-making, data analysis from reports, discussions, and Working Group recommendations to ensure clarity in all steps of the process, towards all stakeholders.
My first experience with the larger Wikimedia Community was at Wikimania 2018 in Cape Town, when i joined the Movement Strategy Core Team, and it feels like yesterday, as everyday is a learning experience with alot to learn about the Wikimedia Movement as we "Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge".
