- 18 April: What a start! Only 16 hours into the Challenge and we already have 22 participants and more than 33,000 bytes added. Welcome to all of you! Hopefully the rest of the UNESCO images will be upload shortly. Until then, perhaps you can find some nice images from Syria to include in articles? Wikimedia Sverige and Wikimedia Italia worked together to upload many images from Palmyra and other World Heritage Sites in Syria through a partnership with two Italian GLAMs. You can find the images from GAR here and from DecARC here. - 4 May: With two weeks left we have 79 registered participants, out of these 62 persons have added their work so far. Just a note of caution, please make sure to pick the images you add carefully, and always add image captions. - 7 May: We now have 85 participants with 11 days remaining. Is it possible to reach the magical 100? BONUS POINTS: If you convince an experienced editor (100+ edits) to join the Challenge - you will get half of the point they get for their first contribution (but only the first!). Make sure to get your wiki friends involved! (E.g. if they get 100 p for their first article you can claim 50 p yourself). The bonus points can be claimed from the 8 May 2017. 25 27 28 different languages (Arabic, Bengali, Bulgarian, Burmese, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Euskara, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Lingala, Lombard, Malayalam, Norwegian (bokmål), Odia, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian). - 18 May: Wow! It has been a pleasure to see the massive amount of great work produced this month! The coming days will have a close look at the top contributors' points and identify the winners. Please let us know if any of your articles are in the process of becoming Good or Featured, so that we know if we need to wait with the announcement. We will also collect some data about the Challenge. Currently I am planing to compile numbers for the following: (1) Amount of signed up participants; (2) Amount of active contributors; (3) Amount of bytes added; (4) Amount of images from UNESCO, GAR and DechArc that have been used; (5) Amount of languages with contributions. Anything else we should look into? Finally, I would like to tell you about our next Challenge that we are working on: the Connected Open Heritage Challenge. It is still a work in progress, but the plan is that it will take place the 1-31 July. I hope to see you there! PS. - 25 May: Just a quick update: we are compiling the numbers (but it is a lot of contributions, so it takes a bit of time!) and we will go through the contributions from the top-10 participants in the beginning of next week. - Compiling the numbers
- 96 registered participants in the Challenge. Out of them, 79 made a registered contribution!
- 30 languages had articles improved. (Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Bengali, Bulgarian, Burmese, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Euskara, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Lingala, Lombard, Malayalam, Norwegian (bokmål), Odia, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian)
- 1,729 A4 pages with text were created about the World Heritage sites (based on a calculation of 4,000 bytes per A4, single space). This exclude bytes from contributions just consisting of added images or to Wikidata. In total 6,917,069 bytes of text!
- The Swedish World Heritage sites had information added in 24 languages. 103 articles were created about them and 35 existing articles were improved. 40 participants will receive a book for their contributions.
- 326 images uploaded as part of the Connected Open Heritage project were added to articles (287 images from UNESCO, 27 images from DecArch, and 12 images from GAR).
- The main page was fully or partly translated into 15 languages.
