The AfroDemics Project
The AfroDemics Project is a dynamic WikiProject dedicated to fostering the inclusion and enrichment of Wikimedia Movements articles and entries pertaining to prominent African Academics and African Scientists, whether they are based within Africa or working on a global scale. This collaborative effort aspires to rectify the existing gaps in knowledge representation, ensuring that the significant contributions of these intellectuals are duly recognized and celebrated. By pooling resources, knowledge, and expertise from diverse corners of the globe, AfroDemics, through Wiki Loves AfroDemics 2023 aims to create a comprehensive, well-researched repository of information that highlights the achievements, innovations, and legacies of African scholars.
Vision edit
To close the huge content gaps in African continent by increasing the visibilities of African scholars. This will be done by making: articles, citations, images, videos, and data, about the historical and contemporary African academics and scientists to be available and easily accessible in different languages across Wikimedia Foundation Projects.

Overview edit
The African continent is home to a diverse, dynamic, academic and scientific landscape, with academics and scientists making significant contributions across various disciplines. Despite their remarkable work, their presence on Wikimedia Foundation projects is often minimal, hindering the global dissemination of their knowledge and accomplishments. Over the past one year, my collaboration with FuzzyMagma has led to the creation of hundreds of articles around African Academy of Sciences. Article such as Samson Gombe who had died since 1989. Albert Rakoto Ratsimamanga who died in 2001, Félix Malu wa Kalenga who died in 2011 and Abdellatif Berbich who died in 2015.
Also, the few scientists and academics who have found their ways into Wikipedia and its sisters projects are mostly males. We have also tried to close the gender gaps by creating quality articles around women scientist and academics. For instance Farida Fassi, Florence Orabueze, Kaletapwa Farauta,
Therefore, the AfroDemics Project's aim is to close the gap through the introduction of Wiki Loves AfroDemics 2023, an annual campaign that focuses on improving and creating articles related to African academics and scientists.
