- Because otherwise every single page mentioning the number of files on Commons would need to be updated, which is worse than having to update only this template :-) SPQRobin (talk) 23:32, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes I knew that... my point is, I'm pretty sure there is a way to have it automatically updated or it would be easy to achieve that, but I'm not into MediaWiki. --Elitre 17:43, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, there will be probably somehow a way to do it automatically, but I think it's good enough if it's updated manually from time to time. Btw, this template exists because it is used on pages that are translated for wmf:. So this template exists because it exists on wmf: (otherwise it would be a redlink here at Meta).
