Update wikipedia wordmark
After the logo change, the portal was updated with the new logo, but the wordmark still uses the old version with Hoefler Text. I updated the /temp page with the correct file, a 174px version of file:wikipedia wordmark.svg. Uploading a new static, raster, 174px png file (as was done with the current image: File:Wikipedia-word.png→File:174px-Wikipedia-word1_7.png) is not necessary; I asked in the #mediawiki IRC channel and they confirmed that the pngs that are rendered from svgs in specific sizes are cached and good enough for uses like this. Here's the exchange:
[14:57] <Waldir> Hi all. I have a question: The rendered png versions for specific sizes of svg files are cached, right? [14:58] <Krinkle> Waldir: Depending on your settings, yes. [14:58] <Reedy> yeah [14:58] <Waldir> I mean specifically in commons [14:58] <Krinkle> Yep [14:58] <Waldir> I noticed the wikipedia.org portal still uses the old wordmark with Hoefler Text, rather than the new one with Linux Libertine [14:59] <Waldir> There's this svg file with the new wordmark, but I'm not sure the rendered version in the specific size we need (174px) is good enough to be used in the portal [14:59] <Krinkle> Can you link to the (new) svg file on commons ? [14:59] <Waldir> http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia_wordmark.svg [15:01] <Waldir> I was wondering if the custom sized renders' cache expires sooner (or at all) as opposed to the regular full size images ... [15:19] <Krinkle> Waldir: Sorry, had a couple of things at once. What is the question ? [15:20] <Krinkle> the HTML is here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Www.wikipedia.org_template&action=raw [15:20] <Krinkle> request a change on the talkpage [15:21] <Krinkle> eg. to http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bb/Wikipedia_wordmark.svg/174px-Wikipedia_wordmark.svg.png [15:21] <Krinkle> gotta go. Will be back in 6-7 hours [15:21] <Waldir> Krinkle: I meant to ask if that render's cache is robust/stable enough for the portal [15:22] <Krinkle> Waldir: Sure, afaik lots of image are used that way [15:22] <Krinkle> really gonna go now :) [15:22] <Waldir> sure, thanks :)
So please sync the template with the /temp code. --Waldir 15:41, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Done Already updated the page yesterday. Thanks for looking into this matter. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 08:54, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've proteced the image on commons and added a warning, and unprotected the original (unresized) one. It still had a copy here on meta, which I asked to be deleted after moving the upload history to the commons version. The resized version was redirected to the original. --Waldir 21:37, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- By the way, we originally uploaded separate copies of these images because MediaWiki didn't optimize thumbnails. It looks like the wordmark was already as optimized as it could be, though. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 08:13, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks for the explanation! I knew there had to be a good reason for that :) The filename could have been clearer, though (174px-Wikipedia-word-optimized.pg rather than 174px-Wikipedia-word1_7.png). Cheers, Waldir 10:17, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Yet another article count update
{{edit protected}} Article count update (again). Please sync with /temp. —mc10 (t/c) 20:04, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Space
{{editprotected}}
There should be a space between "Тарашкевiца", which links to be-x-old:, and the bullet that precedes it. Please supply it. Also, could you tell me where I could discuss the names and the sorting order of the interwikis? --Theurgist 11:43, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
There is already a space there, isn't there? The place for discussion about interwiki links is probably either Talk:Interwiki sorting order or the more general-purpose Wikimedia Forum. Jafeluv 11:56, 11 February 2011 (UTC)- Nvm the first part, space added. Jafeluv 12:02, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- If you find an error in the name this portal uses for a language, a Meta administrator can fix it easily. However, to change the name MediaWiki uses for interwiki links, you'll need to file a Bugzilla bug. Also, Jafeluv, don't forget to keep the portal and its /temp page in sync. The /temp page offers a way for non-administrators who know HTML to contribute to the portal without compromising security. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 08:20, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Wordmark alt text
Shouldn't the alt text of the wordmark image on the top be "Wikipedia" and use the css font-variant: small-caps rather than the current alt="WIKIPEDIA"? --Waldir 23:29, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Done, but I don't know what you want with the font-variant: small-caps - Hoo man (talk) 18:43, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
- It's for the same reason the other font definitions are there, and (I suppose) why the text was written in all caps: when the alt text is showed instead of the image, it gets formatted in a roughly similar way. --Waldir 21:44, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, and by the way, I forgot: the alt text should be "WikipediA", not "Wikipedia", for the same reason. --Waldir 21:48, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- Since noone objected, I added the remaining changes to the /temp page. --Waldir 00:05, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Article count
{{edit protected}} Please sync with /temp; I've updated the article counts and fixed a few links. By the way, our top 10 wiki placements should be updated, according to Wikipedia Statistics: zh needs to replace nl, and a few of the wikis need to be switched around. If anyone has the time to do so, that would be appreciated. Cheers, —mc10 (t/c) 23:14, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Done, thanks for your help - Hoo man (talk) 16:06, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- Done Chinese has replaced Dutch. The JavaScript function that replaces the traditional characters with simplified characters for certain browser locales has also been updated. Thanks for the heads-up. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 10:40, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe I'm just confused, but I don't understand why nl has been replaced with zh. According to the statistics, nl has 579,405 articles and zh 360,540. Mathonius 18:59, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
incohesions found for Malagasy

Croatian language
Croatian language (hr/Hrvatski) is the only missing language in the drop-down list, with over 100k articles in it. Please add it to the list. Thanks. --Paxcoder 00:32, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
