Talk:Wikipedia & Education User Group/Governance
Membership form
editWhat is the rationale for requiring a residential address and phone number to join this group? Can you point to any other wikiprojects that collect this information as a prerequisite to membership? Dialectric (talk) 21:19, 12 November 2018 (UTC) CI raised the same concerns on another page for this new user group, and believe the response I received is counter to Wikimedia policies concerning privacy, Dialectric.
- I see you had not received a response at all, similar to my own offer of assistance to help with their resources. I have requested review from AffCom to help me understand if I am too privacy sensitive or if this membership request is unreasonable (or something else entirely).--- FULBERT (talk) 03:19, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- I did receive a response, on my talk page, after raising the same issue on User:Dungodung's talk page; he has now made the address and phone sections optional on the membership form.Dialectric (talk) 03:28, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
When do we internationalize?
editWe have a bias here: you say “contact blabla”, and of course there are WMF staffs overseeing each geographical Hub an affiliate is located.
I wish to show Wikimedia and our non-WM supporters that affiliates are with strong backup of Affcom, which this page tells very smartly and crisply who walks side by side with those caretakers of volunteer groups.
Then, keeping it mono-lingual or offering in English only does not abide with Wikimedia 2030 initiatives. Why we assume every caretaker of an affiliate be English fluent, or it looks like that since 2018.
Simply push this page for translation. Please do not make it necessary to file a petition officially that people listed would listen. --Omotecho (talk) 01:23, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- Translation is fine. But your former edits broke the code. Joalpe (talk) 01:32, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- I admit my shortcomings (; May a WM spirit help me out of the bog. -- Omotecho (talk) 06:04, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
