Improving Vital articles

We (Bashkir Wikipedia) annually participate in the Wikimedia CEE Spring. We have a lot of short articles, such as Bulgaria, North Macedonia, etc. w:Central and Eastern Europe, w:Central Europe, w:Eastern Europe are completely absent. This year, we would like to improve and refine the most important articles during the contest. New articles will not be enough, we will improve our existing articles. Do you encourage our initiative? @ZUFAr: No, I don't think it contradicts the rules of the contest. I think we can do an article list for central articles, other languages might also profit from that, like Maltese for example. Nice work for a first year goal!

@ZUFAr: @Philip Kopetzky: I just went throuh the first list, corrected a lot of mistakes (maybe this should not be generated manually), changed the location of Esperanto into #2 list and corrected name of #1 and amended description. It feels a bit strange to have individual federal regions of Russian Federations, but not to have some other...Think list #2 has more priority and naming issues, but I did not went through it carefully. -- Zblace (talk) 06:41, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

That's a great start - we could use the module from the article lists to better display where these articles are missing. The Russian federal regions are derived from the affiliates participating in CEE Spring. But ideally we would split the lists into tables for every community and build it from there. Could you please do this also for SH and Montenegrin Wikipedia (if easy).

I did some reorganizing for overview (to few women) and it its better, but I am still not happy with it. I do not know what is used for tables and how, but it would be great if there is a way to have info of article size, quality and possible note to display (as alt text on hoverof icon?). I noticed that SH and HR have big gaps in quality of even essential articles, so could be it exists and is relevant for others also to check (maybe not via CEE Spring, but I am curious). @ZUFAr: @Philip Kopetzky: -- Zblace (talk) 09:33, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

BA Wikipedia new rules

• New article translations should be translated in full.
• The participant must add at least 5 lines of text to existing articles.
• The contribution will be summed up in bytes

SH Wikipedia first rules (adopted)

• New article translations should be translated in full (exceptions only if justifiable).
• New articles and additions to existing articles must be at least 200 words to count.
• The participant must add content to existing articles to the level of one in EN, DE or other big Wikipedia.
• Articles about exclusively SerboCroatian language or former postYugoslav countries don't count.
• The contribution will judged by relative quality (the richness of content and correct grammar) + work efforts(the word count, rich media use and structure), but also choice of a article filling gaps (women, LGBTIQ, ethnic minorities, racial minorities, ability, neuro-diversity, legal status and last but not least class!).
• Any registered user can participate, but the organizers/judges aren't eligible for prizes.
• Contributions must comply with basic rules of Wikipedia (notability, verifiability, neutrality, copyright).

Awards will be given to contestants with most points earned in quality and gap bridging, also to each contestant that contributes content about each of the participating countries/regions and special lists. Jury might decide not to award quantity of contributions if related user account was used in compromising Universal Code of Conduct on Wikimedia projects.

Hey Z Zblace, I'd be happy to jump in and help out in June. Qualitative measuring is fine for me, but if we want to use it, we should define the criteria before the competition starts (and share them on the page of the contest for the SH community). E.g. for me "relative quality" would refer to the richness of content plus correct grammar; "work effort" would refer to the word count plus whether there are images and subtitles/sections; "filling a gap" would mean listing the kinds of gaps (women, LGBTIQ, ethnic minorities, racial minorities - what other gaps is the Wiki world trying to fill in?) Прошу сделать словники по Азербайджану, Чехии, Эсперанто, Литве, Мальте, Северной Македонии, Сербии, Словакии, так как те входят в перечень стран данного проекта. Hello, @Aishik Rehman! Currently only communities from the CEE region (very loosely defined) itself can have their own article lists. However, participants from outside the region can write about these topics and participate in sub-contests like "CEE Women" & "Hall of Fame" (there are small awards for this given by international team).
