Youth Olympic Games

edit

@Rodelar: Is it included in the articles opened under Youth Olympic Games in this challenge? Because it's also an olympic games form. It only wrote in rules that the articles on summer, winter and paralympic topics will writing. Thanks. --Uncitoyentalk 11:58, 15 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Uncitoyen: thank you for your message and for the translation of the contest page. Only articles from the Olympic and Paralympic Games, both Summer and Winter, are included. Youth Olympic Games medalists, despite being another event promoted by the IOC, may pose problems in some communities in terms of relevance. Cheers. --Rodelar (talk) 08:13, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the clarification. --Uncitoyentalk 13:02, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Well, notability is an issue also for articles in the field of the general Olympics. Not all wiki allow subpages for sports or competitions. I don't think that this should be a reason to exclude the Youth Olympics. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:21, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
As two times participant as Wikimedia photographer at YOG, I mainly would be interested in the Youth Olympics. A participation of me without YOG would be unlikely. -- Marcus Cyron (talk) 15:49, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@DerHexer: @Marcus Cyron: thanks for your comments, we will take them into account for future occasions. --Rodelar (talk) 15:56, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
As stated by my friends above, we can get notability issues even on the major Olympics, so I see no reason to exclude YOG athletes. By the way, I think that the contest would benefit a lot by including articles other than athletes, such as venues, bid process, general articles related to the performance of each country on the Games, etc.--BugWarp (talk) 02:02, 18 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@BugWarp: the initial idea was to work on everything related to the Tokyo 2020 Games (athletes, venues, competitions, etc.) but the current circumstances made us rethink the initiative and we decided to focus only on medalists. --Rodelar (talk) 15:56, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
