Using Wikidata to assist edit

Hi. I am looking at a lot of manual data preparation for your pages and would think that there is plenty of scope to utilise wikidata: to generate page data and links when you are working from a framework. @Mike Peel: I think that you could give some advice on what might be possible for something like Wiki Loves Birds/Content development.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:56, 25 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Using {{Wikidata list}} would be a good way forward, but I'm not sure if the information is on Wikidata about which taxons are found in Nepal (@Christian Ferrer: might be able to help with that). In general it might be best to ask the Wiki Loves Monuments team what's worked for them - pinging @André Costa (WMSE):. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 08:06, 25 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Mike Peel: No indeed, in my knowledge this information is currently not stored in Wikidata, though apparently it might be useful to have a property that offers the possibility to list countries where taxa have been identified/observed. Sorry I can not really help here. I'm afraid that if one wants to retrieve the infos currently stored, e.g images, links, parent taxon, ect..., about those taxa in Wikidata, it must be done by calling each items, not ideal but maybe better than Wikitext. an additional solution can be the quick creation (possible?) of such a property, and to add the info to the concerned items in Wikidata. A good potential use of Wikidata for a structured purpose IMO. But a list for a competition have likely to be monitored to avoid vandalism. e.g there are no ostriches in Nepal. Christian Ferrer (talk) 18:13, 25 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi, it would be great if you guys can help on this. thanks - Nirmal Dulal (talk) 07:19, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the delayed reply, Been away from work for a while. For Wiki Loves Earth in Sweden I've made use of {{Wikidata list}} to generate lists (see e.g. w:sv:Lista över naturreservat i Blekinge län utifrån Wikidata. It works fine after some fine tuning to break down the output to not generate too large lists. A key one would probably be which taxon exist in Nepal... but without that data being on Wikidata I'm not sure what can be done. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 08:49, 3 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Upload wizard edit

Hi, @Billinghurst: I think we need a special photo upload wizard to categorized and manage photos from this event. Can you help us on this too? - Nirmal Dulal (talk) 07:29, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Nope. You are better of asking at Commons.  — billinghurst sDrewth 10:28, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Location, habitat information, date edit

It would be useful if all images have basic location information, just Nepal is not useful as species vary from the highlands to the lowlands and there is a lot of value lost when this is not included. Shyamal (talk) 09:12, 16 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Shyamal for suggestion, I'll try my best to do it. - Nirmal Dulal (talk) 03:54, 17 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I think the original uploaders should add this information carefully - note that you mentioned Chitwan at en.wiki for Indian grassbird but the coordinate info at c:File:Indian_Grassbird_Wiki_Loves_Birds_Nepal_(cropped).jpg is grossly incorrect. Shyamal (talk) 06:25, 17 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

  Done corrected. Thanks. - Nirmal Dulal (talk) 07:47, 17 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
