Scope of this task

edit

@Sebastiankarcher: Should we maybe extend the scope of this proposal? Data citations are a good thing to push further, but maybe in the Wiki* context the traditional citations to publications are still more dominant. Thus, I would suppose to also look at sources for journal articles or newspapers.

  • absolutely. I didn't know how fine-grained proposals were supposed to be, but I think it makes sense to expand this. I'm going to be quite busy before Wednesday and will actually not come in until around noon, so feel free to present this accordingly. --Sebastiankarcher (talk) 17:37, 20 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

In the other proposal Citoid integration for Wikidata there is this sentence:

"Also, making more citoid translators would also generally be helpful for this (and for adding references on Wikipedia)"

@Aude: Which sources for translators did you have in mind?

Personally, I would also like to look (at some point) at DOAJ, where also searching for publication is possible but not yet supported by the translators. Moreover, I would like to look closer at a possible urn:nbn lookup. However, I don't know what priorities would be optimal for Wiki* .

DataCite DOI

edit

As far as I see, the current situation is also, that no DataCite DOI can be used with Citoid. Is that correct? There are actually also quite a lot of publications with a DataCite DOI which are no datasets but normal articles (e.g. on institutional repositories). --Zuphilip (talk) 11:32, 20 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
