Talk:Use eye-catchers to attract attention
I like these sorts of pages. They deserve their own category for 'rules of thumb' or 'good practices' or similar. If you have a chance, you might troll some of the semi-private wikis for similar rules of thumb worth getting wider public attention and feedback. -- sj | help translate |+ 22:56, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your feedback! Which pages can you recommend? --Frank Schulenburg 23:55, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
How to setup easily a Commons loop? WMI internal page suggests poty, which is broken... --Nemo 07:35, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- A slideshow with pics from Poty (not for 2008 unfortunately) should always be possible, it will work provided one chooses particularly appealing images that won't need much close examination (big shapes, bright colors and so on).--Elitre 12:38, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I like to use Wikipedia Vision on screen whenever I'm looking for something "eye catching". I used it to great effect during the GLAM-WIKI conference]. Witty lama 11:01, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen the suggestion on your blog and added it before reading the talk. --Nemo 22:04, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Not a real eye-catcher, but if you can, try the difference in displaying slideshows with a MacBook Air or similar trendy devices. It is not just for the quality of the image, which is brilliant, it's the computer itself attracting people. They'll end up asking for its price, but at least they'll get close and you will be able to evangelize them. --Elitre 12:50, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- We could try Wikipedia Growth animated. The problem is, it ends soon. --Nemo 00:00, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
